I am looking for an inexpensive speedo for my boat. I don't even want to know what a GPS speedo costs but since I have a handheld I don't need one in the boat.

I have the water pressure speedo that gets kicked up over 60+mph and it is a pain in the ass to flick it back down all the time.

Is there another type of speedo that will work at all speeds? It doesnt have to be super accurate.

My buddy has a seadoo and the way the speedo works on it is instead of water pressure, there is a little plastic wheel on the bottom of the transom that spins. This method always gives you a reading.

Can you get this for a boat? Or modify the water pressure one to always have a reading?
I dont care if it doesnt work accurately over 60mph, I just want to know how fast i am going between 0-60

i have the etrex but i dont always want to bring it with me and its a pain in the ass to look at it because you have to hold it with one hand while you drive.

I want something at a glance on the dash.

You don't really need another speedo, just a rigid, or medallion type pick up. AnthonySS, I think posted plans for a home made one a while back. Maybe do a search on that.

SaunaKing, if you can't find Anthony's plans, I can draw up a simple rigid bracket and send/post a sketch. I made mine out of 3/8" stainless tubing and some 1/4 and 1/2 aluminum I had lying around.
