I just bought my first Hydrostream & found this site so Im also I first time poster. Looks like a good community here with alot of friendly peeps. I own a camp on the amite river about 2 miles before freds & Im allways on the river on my party barge or jet ski. I cant wait to get started on my new project. Its a 1978 15' Viper, I think...I have took a few pics to show...I would like to know if there is any place that I can buy parts for this boat. Side panels, racing seats, guages, etc.....It has a rebuilt 115 evinrude on it right now but I would like to know what the boat would handle. It says 125 on the plate but we all know thats BS. It has no jack plate @ this time but I will get one soon, What would be a good size & settings? Im also not sure on the prop size or which would be better? I know exhaust & card can be modded easy plus a low water pick up would be a MUST...But or there any other things, tricks I could do? I look forward to building this boat with ur help...I paid 1500 for boat/motor/trailor 2 6gallon fuel tanks, battery & new battery box, did I make a good deal? Thx for ur time...

welcome to scream and fly
the only thing i would stress is to check the bottom of the boat (the floor and coring) If the floor is wet the first thing i would do is replace it because it could get you hurt. second you could put any v6 on it. That boat could run in the high 90's even 100mph.
Just remember you could get very hurt
look this thread over Serious Boat Accident Tonight - Long Island Great South Bay. Pictures Inside... (http://forums.screamandfly.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=60090&highlight=great+south+bay)

Thx for ur input, Im well aware of the danger that comes with it. I done wrecked two street bikes, broke a couple of bones & been run over by a 60 mph jet ski that I was driving. The floor of the boat does have a few bad spots , I posted some pics & questions in the glass section. Are you sure this boat will hold a 2.5 ? seems real big to me but thats why Im here asking the pros....Thx again for ur input.....

If this is your first go fast boat, then i would stick with the 115 for awhile. It will easily get you in the mid to upper 60's with a jack and nose cone and diff prop, but thats my 2 cents. You can always buy a larger motor later so why not run what ya got now and get used to the boat first. That would be the smart thing to do.

Thx for the advice but this is not my first fast boat. I had a 88 allison with a 200 merc. on it about 5 yrs. ago. Its top end was about 83. But I bought the boat ready to go from someone else. I have allways wanted to build my own from the ground up, It would mean more to me as Im sure you understand..Im not really worried about the motor @ the moment because the boat needs alot of work.......here is a post i started in the glass section about the floor. Im sure this boat wont be ready till next summer....Thx
