I recently got a new computer with win XP, Great , but all kinds of things I dont want, start up at log on. Seems like more all the time too. For example I updated windows media and it starts up every time I log on slowing things down. I reloaded it twice and did not see an option for it to be added to the start up list, it must add itself. How can I edit this list? MartyD

...you can right click the icon at the bottom right of your taskbar and find properties or options to change, most will let you set start-up options.

Go to start, run, then type in msconfig
On the far right, theres a tab that says startup. Be careful what you take out of the list.
Good luck.

Do as Burke says, you can remove stuff you recognize like Quicktime, Realplayer, MS Office, AIM, also remove scheduling agent, PC health, load power profile, speed racer.
