Some of you guitar guys may have already see these auction results on the recent charity auction. According to "Antique Weekly", the bidding was hot and furious. Total sales amount was 7.5 million. "Blackie", Clapton's sole stage and studio Fender Strat, from 1970-1985, sold for $960k, to Guitar Center. Set the record for an auctioned guitar. Clapton's 1964 cherry-red Gibson ES-335, was used from the Yardbird days and was his sentimental favorite. The case had "Cream" stenciled on it. That rig sold for $847k, a Gibson record. His 1939 000-42 Martin (used on Unplugged) went for $792k, also to Guitar Center. Stevie Ray Vaughan's Strat went for $624k, also to Guitar Center. Clapton's newest Graffiti Fender Strat went to the auction straight from a gig and sold for $321k. A 12 string designed in 1969 between Clapton and Tony Zemaitis was $254K. A custom, gold leaf Strat, numbered EC-1, commemorating 50 years of the model was $455k. A 1996 Strat, created by Roy Brizio was $220k. Wish I could clean out my closet and get that kind of dough.
