I have the game Half-Life, but haven't got the hang of it yet. Ever play Soldier of Fortune? That game is awesome.

I am a vid fiend. I play Unreal on the Dreamcast, as well as a ton of NFL 2k, sadly the DC is done now yet they just added a surcharge for using their servers so I am done with it. I just got a PS 2 but the network won't really be running til early next year. I plan on getting Half Life single player game that was just released. I dig Red Faction quite a bit....

I think from the single player stand point... Half life was the game that made me loose several weeks of my life... When I first got that game I had a 266 laptop and was staying in bloomington MN for 4 days.. every hour I did not work or had to sleep I was playing. I would say from the network play stand point my favorite is Still Unreal T Gold. Allthough Startrek Elite force is amazing also!
I would love to have an Unreal or Quake 3 Team arena mod that was a Hydrostream Venus or somthing... and we were all 5 inches tall running around inside it blasting each other to the 2 stroke gods!!
Unreal from the network game play is still the best...... Crazy! Fast, Serious skill involved to be Great and simply Unreal!!!!:o

Here are my current favorites - in no particular order:

1. Half-life
2. Unreal
3. Unreal Tournament
4. Quake 3
5. NASCAR 4
6. Serious Sam
7. Heavy Metal FAKK2
8. Counter-Strike (of course)

Hmmm... I'm still waiting on this one, but I have an interesting idea...

but for the record...Unreal Tournament. Waiting for Duke Nukem Forever (rather whatever) but it's going to miss the marketing boat and UT II will come out before it, with a better engine too. Probably won't even buy Duke when it does emerge.

Anyone play "Age of Adventure?"

Probably not... ;)

But it's in free-play right now, if anyone is interested.

Delta Force 2 and 3 here. Every Sunday night, 4 buddies from 3 states battle each other online. I was sick of having them come over for the battles over my home network, because I kept running around fixing locked-up computers and having to feed all these scabs, ha ha.

Hey Greg -

I used to be into some of the games but haven't been able to do much now for a couple of years because of all the time the Registry thing & website take up. Did all the old Doom & Heretic games. Currently Descent, F1 Championship, Nascar Thunder '02 on Playstation. Bought Longbow 2 when it came out and still haven't even tried it. Took a look at Half-life but I just know I'll get addicted so I haven't gone any further. I haven't tried playing anything online.

Laker, sounds like I'm building a rig similar to yours, though I didn't go liquid cooled for the Athlon Palomino (went heavy duty on the cooling fan & heatsink though - did you see that video on Tom's Hardware Guide of the Athlon burning up?).

Yours truly used to work for 3DFX - as in Voodoo video cards! I was employed by them until they were bought out by Nvidia.

How's that for a surprise?

Hey Mark!
I didnt see the Video but im sure it will... Mine with air cooling overclocked to a 1527 (its a 1200 Tbird) was all it could do.... and got REALLY hot (59C) before it started to lock up and hang.. Now that its liquid cooled it can run 1550 (So far but im not sure if im happy with it yet) and its 45C.

JUST picked up the XBOX>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Whoa..... Halo is Crazy killer and Dead or alive3... Well just dont have your small kids around when your playing it.
XBOX RULES!!!!:o :D :o

Laker,

It was really cool working for them. Before that, I also worked for Acclaim Entertainment - both fun jobs. I've had a number of Voodoo cards myself - even tried the Voodoo 5 6000. Currently, I have a Voodoo 5 5500 in one of my machines, a Voodoo 3 3000 in another, and a GeForce 2 GTS in the other. They are all great cards, but I always thought - and still think, that the image quality of the Voodoo cards was better. The colors look more rich, and you just can't beat Unreal in Glide. That's all old news now, and the Voodoo 5 is pretty slow these days.
As for today, I would still avoid the ATI Radeon 8500. Yes, its hardware is more advanced than the GeForce 3, and yes, its pixel shaders are more advanced as well. The hardware is great, but ATI's history of poor drivers and far-and-few driver releases is just too scary a prospect for a $300 investment. Another tip: virtually ALL games on the market are tested to run on Nvidia hardware above all else. The GeForce 3 is faster than the 8500 at this point as well. With the release of the GeForce 3 Ti500 (overclocked GeForce 3), the standard GeForce 3 will be looking really good, price-wise. With new Nvidia Detonator 4 drivers really boosted performance as well.

At the very least, I would wait on a purchase to see what ATI does with its drivers. As of today, their drivers are still buggy (Smoothvision is in beta stage) and incomplete.

Just my quick thoughts ; )

Hey Greg
Im totally with you!
I too think the 3dFX cards look better. How was playing a voodoo 5 6000???? Was it on a R&D machine or were you able to take it home? any of them remain?
I have a Geforce3 sitting here I just havent gotten around to installing it... But I like trying new stuff. And its really nice to see Nvida not getting away with sitting on their hands. Did I mention how Killer my XBOX Is???
whoa!:D

Started out playin online games with Q2 and have tryed a bunch of others........Q3,,,,,Half life,,,and a few others i can't remember right now and recently , "Return To Castle wolfenstein" that i liked a lot but I just didn't have the free time in the summer to play it. I always seem to wind up back on Q2 . I am in a clan (WoD and HHR) and play a weekely Q2 CTF tournament. I guess I just like the Guys that I have played Q2 with for years. I am running 4 computers at this time , 2 with ol 'voodo3 cards, 1 with a geforce2 and my latest creation (2100 amd) running a ATI 8500. I really like the ATI but I don't have a geforce 4 to compare it to. Compared to my 1200 amd geforce2 machine , it is miles ahead
P.S. I got my ATI 8500 for $175 about 6 months ago so I am sure they cheaper than that now days. Go to www.pricewatch.com any time you wanna find a good deal
