I might be buying a 98 20xdc Bullet with a 95 260 merc in a few days. What is the best oil?and what ratio is good? Can a higher ratio be used like 50:1 on days that I have a Bass tournament where less smoke would be needed and then go back to 40:1 or 32:1 on days where I dont have to idle and move my boat around 300 other boats at daybreak smokin em out!??

Pennzoil synthetic 32:1. Very little smoke on startup.

32 to 1, I like Mercury High Performance Oil. As long as you stay under 6000 RPM 50 to 1 should work. I could never trust my self to do that.

Mine only does under 6000 when I crank it over with the spark plugs out.

If you go'n let John port that 9.9 of yours, it'll turn over 6K too..........   Don't forget, if ya put on does velocity stacks and does domed pistons ya'll was talk'n bout, ya better cut ya some louvers in that cowl and let er breathe some.

Well, I think the velocity stack (note: just one) will help a little bit. I'm hoping John's porting work will allow that 9.9 to turn up to 7000 or so. John, do you think we can adapt a Speedmaster to it?

Yea, we'll put a #4 speedmaster on it and run a duel stage NOS system then when you troll you wont loose that 5 MPH any more.
