Mercury Verado. The most torque you can imagine in an outboard. And then some.

What about the warranty? How about an OMC 4.0L V-8? That's some pretty serious torque.

i know of a guy that has a v8 virage(i think) when he gets on it, the whole boat goes to one side then takes off like a rocket.. THAT is torque.

both of yall didnt answer his question... he said v6.
in that case, the 200 hp merc 3.0 liter is it. even better is the 3.3L evinrude. For torque, there is no replacement for displacement. Unless you go to a blown 4-stroker. (verado)

3.0 looper can be built for some really good torque and if assemble right can turn some Rs. They use them here on big heavy center consoles with fish gear, beer, bait, beer, fuel and more beer and they still run strong. I think truthfully a merc will turn more rpms but I wont say that. Rick

I wuz beginin' to wonder if you guys were sufferin from ADD............. V6, V6 he said.
I'd probably say an old 3.4 liter Merc:eek: as a direct answer to the question, maybe not the best choice for several reasons, but the bet answer to the question.

hmmm, i forgot about that ole hunk... But i would agree with that, but as he said, might not be the best choice for other reasons.

ok lets get some more specifics on the table, i am wanting to build an all out drag motor v-6 with an outboard jet, it will need to be as light as possible and need to be able to make gorillia torque at like67- 7000 rpm's what are the recomindations???

Well, if you wanted something fairly recent..and still a V6, 2 stroke out board, I would be looking for a 250XB to build. There are still some new-old stock ones floating around I bet.

3.1L Yamaha VMAX, can still be modified and it will jerk a merc:D Just like the man said...there is no replacement for displacement!!!
Yep there are some new left-over 250xb's floatin around too.

My vote is for the 395 hp 3.0L SuperMag but I'm a little biased. :D

The 3.1 liter Yamaha if you want a conventional 2-stroke.
On my links page (see below), there is a link to a place with dyno charts of a 225 hp 3.1 liter Yamaha and a 225 hp 3.0 liter Mercury. See for yourself!

I still think a 3.0 omc will dyno like the yammy simply because omc always under estimated hp. I could be prejudice but the torque of the omc is impressive. Like using a 460 ford in a jet boat. Plenty of torque. Rick
