Will it work? I don't think I have seen any set up this way.
What are the pros and cons?
Thanks,

I guess you mean on a satndard 27" transom...yes you can...with a jack plate and step down the motor...many have done it

There's another real recent thread on this same subject, but I didn't see it at a glance. It requires a minimum of about 5 to 5 1/2" setback, and requires some steering cable bracket modification if you're running dual cable steering. Cable/pulley steering is a snap, although it's unlikely that's what's on a Euro. A hydraulic has a different set of problems as far as clearance.
Pro's: looks neat, lowers center of gravity, doubtful that it really helps speed wise, but theoretically should since there's 5" less motor gettin' rammed through the air. A Euro probably isn't a very clean boat back there anyway, from an aero standpoint, so it's probably a lot less relevant on them.
Con's: cost, complexity of making it work, the fact that Merc SS mids have 2" more setback already than the 20" stuff, so with the setback plate required it's an extra 7 to 8" of setback over a 20" motor mounted flat to the transom.
Cutting the transom and making a filler plate is not a complex operation on the STV's and is probably a better way to run a short mid, especially a factory SS.
