These 3 Jersey Girls topped off my 4th of July weekend with an afternoon cruise throughout the Jersey Shore area. Made 2 stops for a swim at the ever so well known "F-Cove". This place was packing them in all weekend.

Benihana has not been a sponsor since the 80's.
This race was only a few weeks ago. Brick OPA Offshore Race.
18+ boats made the start.
Far cry from the old days:(

oh really well that tells you the last time i saw the races. they used to pit in my back yard practiclly. I remember the races used to be awesome when i was a little kid
Sharkey-Images
07-06-2004, 12:34 AM
Same here.
I actually had the opportunity to race from 1987 to 1992 consistently. It was awesome to race off of Point.
Since then, APBA had left and a few other organizations have continually ran races year after year, but they are mainly local boats. Nothing of the calibur you saw when Popeyes came into town....:(

Great pictures many fond memories of LBI. We lived year round on LBI. I went to Beach Haven Elementary School. During this time there was only 2000 residents year round. I have pictures from my youth many years ago of the the fish houses were the boats would come in. As a kid I would shovel ice on the fish for the Phil,Pa market. Rick

I know so many have left for Fla for the warmer weather, but Rick, you certainly didn't move away very far.....
Perhaps just enough to escape the Jersey craziness?:D :D :D

Do either of you remember the inboard garvey races. At the end of the hydro races they held at barnegut they would race inboard garveys. Now I have to admit that would be around the early 60s late 50s. I searched for 5 years to lacate one that was raced called the Wasp in hopes to find purchase and restore. Needless to say I never found or found anybody that had one hidden or stored for sale. One other quick question does either of yall remember the ship the Lucy Evelyn which ran ashore and was made a gift shop which ended in a fire? Rick

Nice Pictures! I was down in Seaside Park this weekend, and to my surprise saw a large amount of performance outboard boats. I thought I was one of the only one, but for the first time while running along the flats toward Island Beach, was running along side an STV, and what looked to be a few Superboats.
The fireworks from Toms River were great if you caught those, I came across this aireal picture of the island I bought cause it shows about where my house is. The island looks very close to LBI!

what is the big boat out front, and why is it out front, (cant be fast)??
Also looks like the boat behind him that is crossing his HUGE wake is way airborn (bow high, and headed for the rocks)

It is the State Marine Police escort boat.....

did you notice the boat jumping his wake??
It's not. Look at the prop wash and the spray coming from both sides of that boats hull. It's pointed towards the back of the escort boat.

nice pics spent many day fishin off that inlet. the mouth of that is nasty in the summer. i can remember taking breakers over the bow of my buddies 18 ft bow rider
South Harbor Marine, Wharetown, finally got my lower unit and jackplate from Bobs. Seems they are running about two weeks behind on their orders, lost a good month of boatting but it should be worth it. I hope to pick the boat up this weekend or early next week. I was thinking of checking out Barnaget Bay while I'm down their, any suggestions, maybe "F-Cove"?
PS, nice Pics. The Mate Looks Great!

F-Cove is just on the North side of the Mantoloking bridge on the west side of the channel...

Sharkey-Images
07-13-2004, 08:27 PM
At the base of the Mantoloking bridge is Traders Cove. Or at the end of Drum Point Rd in Brick, @ Drum Point Marina.
Other than that, a Public Boat Ramp in Brick is a JOKE!!!
A town with the most waterfront property probably on the entire east coast, and we don't even have a public boat ramp to offer...
