Lee ..another thought is to try for lake Hartwell the weekend before and combine it with the folks from Atl..its a reasonable hotel with a huge parking lot for boats and libations..;) just keep me posted..

Tim ..this gives you plenty of time to get everything put back together, break it again and still make it..:D

OK I'll make an executive decision. I agree with the holiday boater deal...and everything on the lake will be busy because of that, so we will say the 2nd weekend in September at Lake Murray.

Arrive Friday September 10 at Dreher Island State Park
Saturday 11 and Sunday the 12th.

I will be staying in an RV at the Dreher Island State Park but there are a number of hotels that are very close that are in Irmo.

I am still planning on the Hartwell trip at the end of August.

I am ging to edit the 1st post so the dates are changed.

Rodney,
Glad to see you chime in there!! Just letting you know that Jasper is on our list in October. In other words.....if you don't make it down here, expect an ass kickin when I come up.

I'll see about getting a good deal on a block of rooms in Irmo/Lake Murray Blvd area.

Sammy, I still laugh my ass off when I see your avitar. It's like I'm looking right at ya.

Kevin, I'm still here in Charleston, but Murray is one of my favorite lakes and I'm delighted to here the waters on it's way up. I've been out on it twice this year and there are a ton of places to go with the water low too.

Here's the deal.

Wellesley Inn/suites Columbia
1170 Kinley Road
Irmo, SC 29063-9633 Phone: (803) 781-8590

I have a call into the sales director to see if we can get a better rate, but travelocity.com has them listed for $69.00 per night with availability on the 10th and 11th (FRIDAY AND SATURDAY Night).

All the rooms are suites, with full kitchens and living rooms. It's only a couple of years old and very nice. I have stayed there a number of times and it's always my first choice.

Only about 5 minutes to lighthouse marina where there is a bar, resteraunt and marina if you choose to stay in the water. Slips are about $25 per night.

Includes breakfast too.

So.....................were're on!

Ramp..?is there one right there at the marina and what about leaving trailers there..

Ospreyproduction
07-07-2004, 06:38 PM
There is a very nice ramp at the marina. Trailers can be left there forthe day or overnight if you choose to stay in the marina overnight.

Wellesley Inn has tons of parking space so your safe either way.

Ospreyproduction
07-08-2004, 11:21 AM
No, this will be my first time there. Iv'e only had the RV for about 3 months now. After seeing the setup that Sammy Corley had up at Lake Robinson, I decided that I just had to have one.

We have since gone to Lake Hartwell / SC, Lake Fontana / NC, Lake Norris/ TN, and Lake Lanier /GA, all pulling the Skater with the RV.

I'm planning on Lake Wylie, NC July 28,29

Lake Hartwell in late August to meet up with Ron and his guys from the Atlanta Powerboat club.

Jasper TN, to meet up with Rodney Nance in October

Hell I didn't buy this thing to let it sit in the back yard.

fastboat
07-08-2004, 11:33 AM
I was just wondering whether you checked the size of the space that you reserved, but if you pull the boat with the RV, you shouldn't have a problem. Gail and I were up there a few months ago, and we had a hard time finding a spot that would hold the RV, the pick-up and the boat trailer. You should be OK.

I'll give you a call, maybe tonight. Murray is a pretty big lake, but usually only gets rough when the big boats churn it up. By that time, most of them will be off the water. You shouldn't have a problem with your boat. There are also lots of coves to run in, if you want to skin it back.

There are several tent sites available, and Lee's site is in section B. That's where the Melon Bellies will be, as well. The park also has a few villas for rent. Not sure if they will be available, but if you want to call to check here is the number.

Ron,
If you are camping in a tent, you're welcome to anything in the RV that you need. We will naturally have a gas grill and cooking area set up for breakfast. We will have plenty of chairs and that kind of stuff too...so come on!

I have a fan that we set outside the RV just to keep the bugs away while we are out there and you're welcome to use it in your tent at night if you want.

Hell I have a huge tent if anyone needs one. It's like a 10 man dome tent or something like that. It's easy to set up and there's tons of space in it. Queen size air mattress too!

Ospreyproduction
07-11-2004, 07:35 PM
Ron,
Lexington touches one side of the lake and Dreher Island State park is on the other side of the lake. It's not that far. You can go over the damn dam and then go thru Chapin and you should see signs to Dreher Island. When I called it was just busy, then finally got thru. Get something near site 53. I'm on the water.

I'm not building anything up there right now.

J. Lamb- come on out and join us. We will have more of a schedule as to where we will be as we get closer. Saturday night we will be at Lighthouse marina dock fo a party, Friday we will meet somewhere in the Bomb Island area. We may drift up into some calm water so these guys can scream and fly. Should be quite a site and a hell of a lot of fun.

Looks like we are going to make the Lighthouse Marina event Saturday @ 11:00 for lunch. That way anyone just coming in for the day can catch up with us and no one has to be on the lake at night.

Hey Lee,

Where did ya'll stay when you came to the Hartwell Poker Run? We're gonna stay at a Corp campground down near the Dam this weekend. You have to get reservations about 3 months in advance for the Corp campgrounds though. just wondering if you may know some "Last Minute" places.

If you can stay at the Corp campground you are better off. They are pretty nice. There is a place called Big Bass Valley Campground that is right across from Portman Marina. That's where we stayed for the Hartwell poker run. $25 a night and that included the use of his their dock. Boatramp is 50 ft from the dock. It worked out pretty well. You just need to ask to be close to the dock or you could be way up the hill.

Hey guys,
I'm a little late finding out about this one. That's pretty bad considering it is on my home lake. I will make it in something that floats. Every time ya'll have one of these close to me I have just sold the boat I was playing with. Once again that is the case. My aluminum hot rod is gone, and our inventory is very low until I get some 2005 models in. May have to just bring a pontoon or something. Anyway I will be there. I have lots of spare parts for Mercs so if someone comes in and needs something I will be glad to help you out.

Ospreyproduction
09-02-2004, 06:55 AM
Some people will be arriving Thursday and mostly be in the Dreher Island area, Friday as well.

Saturday is the lunch gathering at Lighthouse marina. That is mainly to provide a general meeting place for everyone. We will then head out to Bomb Island and maybe find a cove around Dreher Island to make some runs. There will be a good crowd based at the Dreher Island State Park over the entire weekend. That will more than likely be the place to be after dark. A number of us will be in RV's and some are at "the cabins".

I will step out on a limb and tell you that Dreher Island will be a blast in the evening. This group doesn't have a habit of turning in early.

Sammy can't see to well after dark....you know, with his age and all. lol So running on the lake at night will be limited to a few. Some of these guys don't even have running lights.

My RV spot is #53 (right on the water) I will be anchored there and anyone is welcome. Bring a tent and stay for the weekend!!!

No real schedule other than that. We will play it by ear for Friday and Saturday is Lighthouse for lunch and then off to Bomb Island.

Saturday night is Dreher Island and Sunday is a free for all.

We will have the grill fired up Friday and Saturday evening, so if your stopping by, bring something to throw on it!

In SC you are required to have a DNR permit to have any kind of racing on a public waterway. I think they also require you to have insurance for the event. These permits aren't easy to obtain. I wouldn't disscuss any racing events here. It would just be asking the water cops to join the event. They love to write tickets.

I don't know what you will be able to see from the bank. I might be wrong, but I thought this was just a gathering of boaters looking to have some fun. I have been involved in obtaining the proper permits and permission to have a race. You have to have an ambulance, dive team, and law enforcement involved. I am sure that there will be some racing, just don't advertise it. I would guess these sites are watched by someone looking for the opportunity to bust some people. If you aren't careful, you will poop your own party.

Great shots Dean but whats up with the picture of the beamer, O thats right your a beamer salesmanager (HA) how about some shots of the Specter, told RC about this and I said I would get him a picture of it . Damn what a ride when I grow up I want to be just like David Pou or I could lower my standards and be just like you. Has anyone talked to Sammy after the run with Dixon, its funny how every one thinks their fast until they run someone who is FAST Later Ken
