low water pres

i have a 235 omc and the water psi was at 20 and dropped down to around 5 and 0 at idle so i replaced the impeller and flushed out everything to be safe. but i still had the same psi with the new water pump so i plugged the telltail and it has lots of psi around 28 at speed .the psi gauge is T'd off the telltail so i have no idea what is going on the temp seems ok what should i do?

One leg of the T should have a smaller passage. This goes to the telltale hose. One large leg is the input and the other goes to the gauge to get a good reading. Easy to turn it around by mistake and get the small passage on the inlet which will give you low indication on the gauge.

bingo you got it! that is the way it was hooked up i will change it and try it again .
