View Full Version : Balz To The Wall - Who wants to bid on one of MY guitars? Now's your chance!

You all know that there's a charity auction at Balz To The Wall (as always), so this year you'll get a chance to own one of my personal guitars.
Yes, one of my Ibanez RG guitars will be up on the chopping block, so I hope someone gives it a good home knowing they donated to the Alzheimer's Association.
I have many Ibanez guitars, and this one was hardly used. It still has the plastic covering on the cover plates and it comes with an SKB Ibanez case. I bought this as a practice guitar and used it a few times. It's in new condition. Has a Floyed Rose tremolo and all the other goodies. The color is metallic grey nickel.
You gotta be in it to win it!
Greg

Mike, helping people is what Balz To The Wall and Scream And Fly is all about. I'm honored to be a part of your incredible event, and I'm here to help any way I can.
Did I mention that the guitar comes with two of every color decal?:) I know there are a lot of guitar players there too, so I'll maybe the winner should play a nice solo with it at BTTW!
Looking forward to Balz To The Wall Mike - remember, you said I had to show up to BTTW to become an Amigo? Well, get my avatar ready!!!

Hey, you never know!
Actually, the Ibanez guitars play and sound great. That was always a staple of those guitars, no matter the cost.
Next year is might be a Jackson... or...?

Yes...yes...I'm waiting.....;) One of the finest players to ever pick up the guitar also happened to build one of the finest guitars ever to be picked up (Can you say Les Paul). :D
Greg it doesn't even have to be a nice flame top it could be a plane jane Studio model. :D
Actually the studio model is a little lighter and that makes it easier to lug around which to an old out of shape guy like me makes a heck of a difference.

Les Paul guitars are my "main" instrument of choice. My favorite being a Goldtop Standard. I have many new Ibanez and Jackson guitars in my collection. I have several Les Pauls too, and the Studio is actually a very good model. They play and sound every bit as good as the Standard and Custom models.
It's the Epiphone Les Paul guitars you have to be careful of - they are nothing like the Gibson model, although they look very close to them. They are much lighter, and the wood combinations are not the same. Play them both and you'll hear and feel the difference.

I've been a head-banging guitarist for over 25 years. In that time, I've owned a whole slew of guitars...Jackson Soloist, Hamer, Ibanez, ESP, SG, Les Pauls, etc....and a transluscent green Van Halen original (1 of 90 made by Ernie Ball).
The Van Halen was the best sounding guitar I've ever owned, but it gave me carpal tunnel in my left wrist.
The Les Paul saved me from giving up guitar for good and has always been "home" for me. Short scale, low string tension, fast action, and sustain like no other. Gibson and Marshall forever.

Greg,
All that equipment makes my mouth water. I am in the market for a new multi-effects board. I have a Zoom 2020 or something and have never liked it (noisy and complicated). Do you have any tips on something with a straighforward interface, good sound, and reasonable in price?
I'm not asking much huh. :D
Scream And Fly
07-08-2004, 10:14 AM
Bob, I stay away from the Zoom guitar pedals... As far away as I can get. In my opinion, the preamps are useless, the digital effects are stale, and they are very noisy (as you already know).
Right now, if you want an inexpensive multi-effect pedal that actually sounds very good, look at the Digitech RP series of pedals. I have an RP-300 I use for jams and practice, and I think it sounds incredible (considering its price). The RP-100 runs around $100. Check that one out!
