"The ODBA reminds its racers that if your state requires race boats to be registered at sanctioned competition events, you MUST have your boat registered. The Alabama Marine Police will be enforcing this issue at the next event in Demopolis, AL. If your state DOES NOT require registration of racing boats at an officially sanctioned event, then you must have a copy of this information from your state to show the Marine Police prior to entering the water at the event. Failure to comply with local ordinances can result in fines, a ticket, and even arrest.

If you plan on testing at the race site PRIOR to the event, make sure your boat is registered, and complies with all local, state, and federal regulations. In order to promote safe and responsible outboard drag boat racing, the ODBA requires its racers to comply with all regulations – even during the sanctioned event."
