Have Rex and don't like it.
Its made for Jets not outboards.
Was thinking a Nydahl?
In the market for a red one if someone has an extra.
Thanks ahead of time.

MERControl here!
...and aside from shifting gears, it has a kill switch, ignition switch and trailer mode trim too:)
...that is practical too me and cost effective!

merc that is set into the side of the boat without the big box, just a nice factory shifter

Stock OMC flush mount. Has trim, neutral lock ,start in gear protection (good to have with little ones around).Takes stock cables works well. Not as flashy as some, cost effective, has a decent feeling handle. Have foot throttle so the shifter only shifts. If anything I would put my $$ into a good foot throttle first then a shifter if you wanted to. For a budjet/project boat OEM(manufacterers control boxes) are the way to go. They have everthing you need, trim, start, kill switch, etc. and can be had dirt cheap if not free sometimes. A good box and a quality foot throttle will get you on the water without breaking the bank. Don't get me wrong I like all that billet stuff too. It all depends on what you can afford. There is nothing wrong with OEM control boxes, cables, guages etc. It's just that some of the aftermarket stuff is nice and some (but not all) is of higher quality.

I use a K&S, it works for me. Very small but may not be practical for some boats.

don't remember the brand...but you'll want one with shift detents so it'll stay in whatever position you put it in....mine has button on top you push to release.....

Good Point! My shifter didn't have that and I blew the case first run out. I custom made my own lock-in!:D

Skater custom billet mounted in the center between two front buckets. Smooth, and definately heavy duty.

I prefer a Hurst, never miss a gear.

...some have detents, some don't, they can be had with just about any option you might want. If anybody wants more info, let me know.

not used to shift if possible. Start motor in gear you need and shift from F-N-R as little as possible. I usually need reverse only to come off the boat lift or trailer. Keep it in F, for fast, turn key and save your gears. hehehe! You need to spend your money on lightweight ceramic speakers for stuffing up front!
BTW. Would you consider going to Toys for Tots in Fl December 8th, I think? I am thinking about it and will press the Balzy boys to see if they are interested this weekend. You could keep up your bronze from the gulf!

I been wanting to rig one up that really looked good..
Between the seats, I use a foot throttle, and start in gear.
So it'll just be to shift. Been thinking about rigging up , something that looks like a race unit for a Power Glide..With the lever you pull up to go into Rev. Maybe something from B&M, ??
Think it'll be hard to rig up..?
What you think..? Later Larry :D
