THE CHIP as it was named by the LAKE TARPON BOYS was SOLD today ! NEW OWNER and a MAN that knows how to go fast ,will surely be posting some BIG #'s SOON is " PHIL CONANT " I would have to say this will become the FASTEST LIGHTNING under 20' we've ever built ! Im guessing PHIL wants to go PLAY with some of his STV buddy's that are in the 120's and 130's,Thanks to PHIL for helping LIGHTNING POWER BOATS in having a GOOD month for LIGHTNING STV's 2 sold in 2 weeks, only leaves 1 in stock,Guess the mold is getting WAXED on monday !! Thanks again and GOOD LUCK with the new TOY !
What bottom is used on this boat? It looks realy deep from the bottom to the rubrail ! Is this the Mod VP, drag or what ? Maby its just me but it seems the STV's might be a bit shallower than that?? What bottom are these guys running that make unusualy hi speeds? Thanks.... Looks good i'll be watching !!

Thats the "Ski" bottom.
Same as a Triad's "Ski" bottom.

Is most popular with these top end guys?? I thought i had read it was the Mod VP bottom somwhere but not sure??

Tug, some people claim the ski racer bottom is slightly faster than the roundy round, but I've got both and haven't ever thought there was much difference, although I've never run a back to back test with controlled comparison. I can vouch for the fact that the old slower roundy round bottom will run at least 134.6 with a relatively stock drag powerhead.
Only thing I can say about Connant going LPB is that Parker's hero is gonna be pouty when he hears about it..

are you being sarcastic with that remark or if i were to order a Mod VP today, would it be diferent than yours? If so, whats changed? If your refering to the Mod VP bottom you have being older design than the Ski version it seems like i remember the ski bottom was one of the first invert designs made??? Thanks

Our STV has the ski bottom, and we're seeing very good top end numbers with it.

Tug, I wasn't intending sarcasm at all, sorry if it sounded that way. Triad offers both bottoms and some people say the ski racer, like John has pictured above is faster. I was just makin' the point that the roundy round bottom is capable of big numbers.
Thats what i wanted to clear up, it read like maby the Mod VP bottom has changes sence yours to present and i was just curious as to what they were if that was the case as you stated the "older" bottom and thats what trigered my question....sarcasm is ok by me, seems to be a popular thing around he're anyway;) :)

Hey, rottonbrock keeping the Allison, I luv that boat.
I have also always loved the river rocket. Great looking boat and very fast. Just a different type. I guess I am guilty of loving two.
Your question about nitrous!! Does that STUFF work????????
I was thinking about Building a MERC and bolting OMC parts on just for fun. Kinda like revin rude but different. Call it a merude.
