That idea has been tossed around more than a few times. I think the day might come at some point, but it is a lot to put together and Greg is real busy with this site as it is.
That is an outstanding idea. I wonder if there is enough support nationwide to make it work. I am sure everyone on this site would subscribe . Has anyone tried to sell idea to a publisher? Hell of a site that could be a monster of a mag. I bet it would take a hell of a pile of money to get it started though. Oh well, great thought.

I've said the same thing, we need a good PERFORMANCE boating mag. That doesn't test multiple family boats every month.

I would be all over a Grass Roots Performance Boating style mag. The magazien should have soem sort of cap on it like $50,000 max for boats but try to test boats in the $10,000 - $30,000 range. Budget build-ups, motor rebuilds, how to buy a used performance hull, 80mph for under $____, etc, etc.... This mag could be for I/Os, jets, V-drives, of course outboards.... I would love to read a magazine that is geared toward the everyday man. I gather that Hotboat used to be that way and I think there still is a big market for that sort of magazine.
I know everyone is goign to post and say S&F is the best magazine already.... I agree whole heartedly but there is room for another print magazine that arives by mail. There is so much complaining about HB and F&PB that I know people still read print magazines.

I love print magazines, just not regarding boats.
I subscribed to Hot Boat in the mid to late 80's and it used to be a decent mag.
I'm with you put all the v-drives and jets in it you want, I'll still read it, I just don't give a rat's ass to read about anybodies opinion of a searay, bayliner, mastercraft, regal, rinker, or whatever.
I would buy a subscription to any boat mag. that was done in the same manner as hot rod, super chevy, ect. like you described.
a few feature boats, a race boat, a mag. project, a motor build up, a tech article (get more out of your jet pump, rebuild your lower unit, how to squeeze more speed out of your v-drive).
IS ANYBODY LISTENING.

If they want to test a boat how bout one a month, instead of 8.
hydrostream just redid their Vegas and Voyager and released an all new design. there's 3 months worth of testing. Test Cuda's boat, and I'm sure there's a new performance jet boat that can be tested. who cares about the regal 188 bowrider with its whopping 140 horse 4 cyl. I/O or mastercrafts mighty 300 horse V8 aircraft carrier.

You guys have some great points, especially the price one. I would suggest that some new hulls were included/tested at some point. You may have a person who wants to buy a new hull like a bass boat or family outboard, and does not know what hulls are faster. Maybe they can get a 150/200hp motor and will tweak it later...and want a good performing hull to start with. It is hard to find out the differences in hulls outside of S&F as far as performance. For example, there are some real fast checkmates and bassers here that would not be readily classified as performance hulls like a STV would...given some of them are modified though. Just would not want to leave out the person who needs to fish/ski/etc but still is looking for perfomance.
