Has anyone heard about the big shaft propshafts on backorder from Mercury until June 28th? Another 2-3 weeks without boating is going to be a long time!

what's wrong with your old shaft?

I lost one blade and sometime before the blade came off the hub it removed a piece from the upper skeg. I measured run-out before I dropped it off and it measured .015 at the end of the shaft just before the threads.

You can straighten that shaft closer than factory. I do it all the time. If you have a roller fixture with a dial indicator and a press, you can get it within .002-.003". Factory spec I believe is .005. I'd be happy to straighten it for you if you like. Let me know!

Right now it's sitting apart at Lakeland Marine in Lake Havasu City, Az. I'll let them finish the job on this one. I'll make sure I get the old shaft back. Thanks.

Just got off the phone with Mercury Racing. Lakeland was right. They are on backorder. They did say they were in inspection and he was going to make a call and get some boxed up and sent. I asked about straightening and he said NO. The wait goes on......

I've been straighten shafts for 17 yrs and have had no issue's. Those shafts are pretty salty and I'm sure the mark up is phoenominal. I disagree with the straightening. Good luck anyway!
