I have a 1999 Merc 200 EFI. Fished last weekend all day with no problems. Heading home turning 5800/6000 RPM's. Motor made a slight change in tune. I idled it back. It seem to be ideling ok. Went back to get on top and the motor wouldn't turn more than about 2000 to 2500 RPM.

Fuel pressure is 35 psi, all coils firing , Tops of pistons appear to be ok by looking through plug holes. I didn't run a compression check, but turning it over with all the plugs out there didn't appear to be any strange noises like holes in the pistons.

Could this be the stator?

Any ideas what this could be?

Is everyone drawing a blank on this one?

Stator would be the best bet.

I am having basically the same problem but with two 2.4 motors. I was told that the low end coil within the stator was the likely the source yet when I replaced both, the problem continues. Fuel pressure OK. TPI check OK, Rapair says now that it may be the ECU's themselves? $500 each to replace internals with digital components. Throw enough $$$ at it it might fix itself.

Do you still have the 115 for sale? If so give me a shout. Thanks.
