Looking for 398-5454a3-1 with 1/2 lam.
I can't find new, engine se.no . A905709 .
Hey Woody,my main computer is down,so i am getting this info from some older books.V-150 carbed S#OA904646-OC100860 uses part# 398-5454A32 with 1/2' lam. Check it out,it is probably the same, and is available.Good luck.bmax.

Thanks bmax. I cross that no. to CDI & it says (MERC-16 AMP WIDE LAM.) IS THAT 1/2 OR 5/8 ? Or does it matter ?
Woody, that stator is 1/2 lam and yes it does matter .It runs a different flywheel.I am not sure why,but your S #A905709 is not an XR2 . Howevever the P# i gave you is correct for that S#.My archive disc shows that XR 2 #'s 4868998 thru OA904645 are the only #'s for XR2.
Wow ,you would think this was a simple thing to solve, there is a $100 diff in price . Sit tight untill tommorow and i will get back to you.Later bmax .sorry it is after midnight.

Hey bmax , It sure looks like xr4 and it has a xr4 cowl but maybe it was changed . Thanks for looking it up .
Woody,my guess is that someone has changed the cowl,or put decals on yours.Anyway, here is the scoop.Your S# shows me that it is not an XR . The stator for your S# is 398-5454 A32 .The retail is (2003 canada price) 392.85 . And the XR2 P#398 5454A7 is only 204.65. I don't know what the difference is between them and they are both 1/2 lam. Where did you get the part number that you originally posted? it does not seem to exist.Hey...Not to piss you off,but are you sure that the stator is faulty????Later bmax.

Hey bmax ,I got the se. # from the stern bracket , it's the same as the powerhead se.# . the stator # is 398-5454A3 1 , the se.# is A905709 there is no O in front of A . The engine starts & runs fine but won't rev past 3k . Thanks for the help .

The 398-5454a 1 changes to 398-5454a32 or 398-5454a35 and is used on 135/150 , I hope .
Woody, actually i meant the part number that you posted.Anyway the part A32 is 1/2' lam and the A35 is 5/8' lam. Look's like you need the A32. If you want to test the stator,i will bring the spec's home with me tommorow. All you need is an ohm meter.Let me know? Your problem does sound like a bad stator, but it is a good idea to test it.Oh yea, what is that tunnel that you are running???Later bmax

I sure hope your wrong about 398-5454a35 =5/8 . I ordered it yesterday , the motor in question also has small gearcase . I'm running a Mirage Jag with 2.6 GT . The tunnel under my username is one I built in 1990 it had a 79 235 Evenrude , I ran the poop out if it untill 2001 . Sold the 235 , still have the boat . Here's a larger pic .
Woody,I hope you know your dealer well enough to change that order. He should have been able to tell you the A35 is 5/8 lam. I also sent you an e-mail that may help you out in the future.Well good luck, talk to you later bmax.
