somebody out there must have an informed oppinion, or at least an educated guess. I dont know much about S.T.V.s, but I did see an old concave bottom run 94 with an old 235,& it didnt take all day either.

Thats probably the sprint your talking about. I know of three bottoms. the mod vp, ski, and sprint bottom. I've heard that the sprint bottom is a really good drag boat because it has the advantages of both a tunnel and a vee bottom. The mod vp and ski is going to be faster on big end though. I use to have a bunch of pictures with STV bottoms. Randy(Aquaholic) has a bunch of pictures and AnthonySS also knows a lot about STV boats. I am very much a novice compared to them. Send them an email and they should be able to help you out more.

GO TO STV OWNERS WEB PAGE & THERE IS A THREAD THAT TALKS ABOUT THE DIFFERENT BOTTOMS AND THE CHARACTERISTICS OF EACH ONE-ROARK MADE A DRAG BOTTOM BOAT WITH SHALLOW TUNNELS AND FLATENED SPONSONS.

THANKS for the kudos...4LIFE...I just saw this thread...
Can't go wrong with any STV bottom IMO...they ALL have merit.
Some say the Drag Bottom is the best for drags but other say they are quirky...some say MVP for all round....
A well steup STV will be a great boat...getting it out of the hole will be the biggest challenge and there are varied methods on that too.
I always like to come out a little positive on the trim so as to launch the boat...but also to have enuff power as not to slap the hull when it comes down ....that scrubs time.
Then once the boat is aired...its trim in time too get the best speed for ET's
