The Second stop on the Tour for the Western Formula Lights Series roared into Parker as twelve of the fastest SST-45's fought a vicous battle from qualifier to final each day. Saturdays festivities got off to a raucous beginning with boat #9 T.J. Hoover barrel rolling in turn one, both driver and boat escaped serious harm and even returned to race in Saturday's Main event. Saturday's final saw longtime racer Boss Marine/Petron Plus Lubricants sponsored entry of Kevin Curtis barrel roll in virtually the same area of the course as T.J. Hoover however, Curtis faired better as his boat landed right side up less rear cowling. After regaining composure it was back to business of racing as Curtis re-fired and was able to complete the heat to keep up the points chase. In the end R.J. West driving brother Warren's all Black Gran Prix took Saturday's victory. Sunday's action no less fierce as the battle in the final between R.J. West and Spencer Lover kept the crowd on their feet. After mechanical gremlins finally won out and claimed R.J. West it was all boat #24, Spencer Love (Clover Construction/Love Bros. Racing) who stepped it up and never looked back and walked away the victor in Sunday's final. Spencer drove a tremendous race from start to finish as did the other 11 W.F.L.S. drivers. The breakdown looks like this:
1st Place Overall- R.J. West
2nd Place Overall- Dave Biagi
3rd Place Overall - Spencer Love

The Grand Nationl Racing Series made their second stop on the tour with thirteen big bad blown (and unblown) "V" hull boats took to the water for their 15 Minute marathon. An unfortunate accident during the first lap saw Skip Tuttle driving Jim Bohenna's "Damien J" go for a swim as the boat fell into a big hole created by the likes of Larry Eckrote and Lance Haselrig just moments before. With the driver and boat O.K., the race committee decided not to push their luck and adjourn for the day. The next morning All boats, less the "Damien J", re-lined up and when the flag dropped the chaos started once again. Larry Eckrote, Lance Haselrig, Lance Faulkner, Bobby Frye and newcomer Gary Hairabedian had an all out drag race to the first turn. Late in the race saw a potentially devasting collision between Joey Stovall and John Bonnici that we have since learned retired the GN III hull of John Bonnici. With the relief that both drivers were in good condition the GN 15 Marathon concluded. For list of complete scoring visit GNRACING.com for the complete results.

Now on to the CONCRETE CORING COMPANY Mod U/Champ Challenge- Saturday:
With 8 Modified Unlimited/Champ boats taking the water to test their mettle against the long 4 mile course from Bluewater to Badenoch's. The odd's on favorite was four time Parker Enduro winner #34 Todd Bowden, however the challenges were in as the gauntlet was passed. Sherwin Williams, Wendt Bros. Racing brought their P.R.O.P. Tour driver extrodinaire- Greg Foster (another past Parker Enduro champion) to seek out the favorite. Other past finishers John Lane, John Marles and Bill Joule (who made the trip from St. Petersburg Florida saw the slightly smaller field as a golden opportunity. When the flag dropped it was Bill Joule first back with Greg Foster hot on his heels, by lap 2 Foster and Joule had a regular 2 mile drag race going in each direction. Foster used time and experience to finally pull away from Joule but alas it was not be because motor problems finally took their toll on big Red Dac boat. With Foster retired and Bowden also down it was Bill Joule who retook the lead without any questions. However more motor problems for lurking for the Maxi Blast sponsored entry and Joule was soon to be sitting on the trailer with pit crews frantically working to try not to lose the great lead he had built up. With Joule now looking to be a fading memory, John Lane in the all white Gran Prix Integral Products sposored entry quickly opened a lead that was not be challenged for the rest of the race. #3 Pro Boat/Marles Electric driver John Marles would try but it wouldn't be enough as Lane went on to take the overall victory in Round 1 of the CONCRETE CORING COMPANY Mod U/Champ Challenge.
Round 2 saw the addition of the big bad V-Drive boys of the Grand National class stepping up to contest. With 11 Grand Nationals and an abbreviated field of 5 Mod U/Champ boats the crowd was wondering if anyone would make it to the end of Day 2. As expected Todd Bowden, Bill Joule were the first back but right in the middle of the all the Tunnel boats was the big Pink BLUEWATER RESORT & CASINO sponsored entry of GN 30 Under Pressure Racing team. With their driver still recuping from cracked ribs (from the Havasu Classic) Lance (I can drive anything) Faulkner took the helm and had all those "car motor" fan's jumping up and down. But the river, she is a tough woman and she gives but she takes back as Faulkner, leading the GN field exploded the twin turbo powerplant. Taking over first place in GN was Lance Haselrig- My Pleasure from West Los Angeles. Lance a former "Parker Enduro" winner kept it steady and clean and walked away the overall winner in the GN class. Now back to the Mod U/Champ boats who for a long time it seemed that the title may be taken by Bill Joule but that rumor was quickly dispelled as Joule encountered some mechanical problems and the underdog- John Lane (son of legendary tunnel boat driver Ed Lane) took his Integral Products sponsored entry to the Overall Victory for the CONCRETE CORING COMPANY Mod U/Champ/GN Challenge of Day 2 at the BLUEWATER RESORT AND CASINO.
