How do you install the rewind spring p/n 318944 it seems the spring is to strong to wind so it will fit in side the spring cup please help with any advice thanks so much.

Put the end of the spring in the slot in the cup then slowly wind the spring around into the cup working towards the center.Dave

You can also install the spring on the tang, with it extending out the slot in the cup, an then assemble the starter. Hold it all together with a nut, and clamp the nut in a vice. Pull the spring into the cup with the new rope you just installed. This is safer than the above method - less chance of a major "sproing" happening in your face. This also works well for the ****ty 4/4.5 sidemount rewinds. Check the pastic spool itself for cracks, and the cup for wear/ damage. With a little care, those starters work pretty good.

Thanks for the info I went back and took another look and wound the spring into the cup by hand took a little bit of time but it works now thanks again.
