Scream And Fly

Well, it was very hot - and also very windy, so speed runs were out of the question. A few people came out, and we had a good time though...
Here's Dirk Pitt in his 21 Superboat/Pro Max 300

OMG - the sandbar is funny as hell!
That's me in the back of Helmut's boat trying to peel my fingers off the grab handles and subsequently checking for wet drawers.
Now I know where the scream comes from in Scream and Fly.

What is up with the 2 guys racing, why do they both seem to have Grey motors, but they say Merc on them? Those are Mariners are they not, I know they are the same, but why does it seem to be a popular motor there?

Im guessing 14-18, its also deceptive because of the black transom, it makes it look like a HUGE black void but it might be closer than you think

That set back bracket is well over 2' probably closer to 3', stainless marine make them up to 36"
but not usually put on a 21' boat

The set back on the yellow 21' Superboat is 12'', right now is turning a 24" 4 blade trophy, at the limiter....

That must be a serious optical illusion then because it sure looks like it is at least a foot furthur back than yours

what makes it such an extreme optical illusion is all the black, and the fact that the hose coming from the transom is straight, versus curved, if you reference the splashwell then the engine isnt too far off

Just another couple of SLOW superboats. U's is lucky I got a bum wing.

The optical illusion is that that back of the transom has a black plate on it and you can't tell where the setback separates from the black plate. The cutout in the transom makes the setback look longer when in fact it is the distance from the cutout you are seeing blend with the black plate.

Look at the Sticker on the cowling and look at the setback, Looks like alot of setback, but I don't know nothing about these type of boats.

I take that back, the back of the boat is black and the white spot is the cut out in the back of the boat and at that angle, it looks like the top of the setback which it isn't. Good optical illusion.

I saw the black on the transome, that wasn't throwing me, I was looking at the distance from the cowl to the corner of the splashwell, but the yellow one has a wider splashwell ;)

blkmtrfan is right, that wide splahswell creates the illusion
