Ok, this might be a stupid question, but, there is quite an amount of smoke coming from the port thermostat dump hose when I start my engine initially. Is this normal or is this leaking into the water system from somewhere?

I have just installed dual dumps and 1/8 washers in the heads. The engine is a 2.4 200.

I would like to know if this is ok or not as last time out I lost a head gasket on the starboard bank and don't want anything to happen this time out.

Thanks, Alan

does it clear up after a minute of running? Or does it continue to blow out smoke or just air after it has sat and ran? If it does continue to blow out air then you probably do have a blown gasket.

Thanks for your reply.

Must have had a total bain fart last night or just a moment of clarity this morning! But when I looked at it again the port side is T'ed into the adapter plate, so when it's just fired up exhaust is blown out before the water has time to make it through the block.

Does this sound right or am I way off the mark...
