MAN,THIS PROBABLY ISNT GOING TO HELP BUT KEEP IN MIND THINGS CAN GET WORSE.I WENT THROUGH THE SAME WITH MY WIFE THE BEGINNING OF THIS YEAR.SHE FOUND A NEW JOB,WHERE SHE IS MUCH HAPPIER AND LIFE IS PRETTY MUCH BACK TO NORMAL.WHAT HELPS IS TO KEEP IN MIND THAT NO MATTER HOW BAD YOU THINK THINGS ARE RIGHT NOW THERE ARE A LOT OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE IT WAY WORSE THAN YOU.KEEP THE FAITH.IT WILL GET BETTER.

also,
You should be eligible to sustain your med insurance through a Cobra package that must be offered....no matter what the termination reason is......I believe its the law

I'm really sorry to hear that... Sometimes life can seem terrible, but try to look at what you have, rather than what you do not have. Things will get better, and we're here to help.

skydog, Your wife should be able to continue her insurance coverage but unfortunately, it's EXPENSIVE. She would end up paying what the comapny pays for the monthly premium. You'd probably be looking at $700 plus per month. Hopefully, she got a severance package which extends her insurance and regular monthly premium for some period of time. On the bright side, sometimes loss of a job actually leads to a better one. Hope that applies in her case. Whereabouts in Illinois do you live???

ia a F#$%^& joke. I had the same scenario a while back and COBRA was $1100.00 a month.

skydog, Just re-read your post. You mentioned that it was your "wifle" that lost a job. That's not as bad.;)

Sorry 'bout that Skydog,
They say they don't give ya nothin' ya can't handle, but why am I always being tested????? Long term benefits;)
If ya got kids, you can keep the insurance with COBRA, but it IS expensive, don't know your situation.
Have the wife head to Unemployment with her pink-slip and necessary documentation. It's crap, but better than nothing. Some companies make deals also w/ Unemployment.
Sharpen up the resume and mail 'em out EVERYWHERE. BE SUPPORTIVE!!!! The better and more confident she feels going to an interview, the better her chances.;)
Good luck and keep a good outlook:D

skydog, In Illinois, she can still work a part time job and get the entire weekly unemployment. Whatever ya do, don't let her get used to sitting around, especially with summer here. Otherwise, you're gonna be hearing,"You know if we cut out boating, going out for dinner, etc., I wouldn't have to go back to work." Then, of course, you'll have to work TWO jobs. I've been there and heard that. :( ...but now I'm divorced.:D :D :D
Hope things get better, they cut 380 of our 400 union jobs at my plant. It's rough but I'll be here as long as the tech center needs steam. Til then it's year by year.

SkyDog, It saddens me to here about your wife's job. At times, life doesn't seem very fair for those who work hard and play by the rules. But ever cloud has a silver lining, I will bet you that in the end, your wife will get as least as good of job as she had, and one she will probably enjoy more. I feel that I can speak for most of us posting on the board, in that we will include her and you, in our prayers. Please tell her one thing for me, there is someone out there who wants a decent, responsibile, hard-working Lady............He looking for her now
