OK guys, letz do sum feel'in out of tha want-a-be racers thoughts...first of all, Tell me, what classes, how many, and a rundown of the rules in each class, would U like to see in a local race....Don't use any class names that ODBA uses, keep it original...Try to keep the rules simple and az few az possible, but keep tha class az fair az possible...Secondly, 1/4mile or 1/8 mile course??? Speeds will be lower in 1/8 mile, but set up will be more crucial.....We'll start off wit these 2 questions...I wish U knew how these 2 questions can influence whether or not we have sum local races in gulf coast area, so think about what will work for everbody and not just put yaself in tha top spot...what I mean iz make a class fer Your TYPE boat and not just your bote...Now git to work, nobody said this wuz jus fun and games...REX:cool:

T-Rex,
A "back to basics" format will work well...

four classes,1/4 mile, double elimination...

"A" Class :
purpose built race boats

"B" Class :
Hot Rods... Top-o-The-Line River-Racers...
center steering ,no carpet, upholstery, any motor mods,
basic bad ass rigs....

"C" Class
Classic River-Racers... side steering, full interior, customary
bolt-on motor mods...

"D" Class
Pleasure Boats... Ski-Boats, Bass-Boats Etc.
To be determined by race commitee based on forecast of performance... Grass-Roots type raceing with the emphasis on
fun and friendship...

Basically, put 'em out there with little or no entry fee and let-um
have at it... racing for the shear joy of putting in their rounds!!!

Best Wishes,
Danny

Danny,

Those classes sound like the old days of Citrus Drag Boat Club racing on the barge canal.

Rex
We have a local race here in Ottawa, Il and run 800', alot of the Blarney Island boys come down and it is 3 classes of outboards. Pretty close racing.

Hey Rex! Just give us dang yankees a chance to cogitate a bit. Ya know, (er, maybe not) dat it gits cold up har and de head muscle don't work quite so fast, 'cept the little one, as we breed in the winter, not hibranate. I was trying to think for two days now what class my STV Euro would run in. It has "custom race boat" embedded in hull, so is it a "A"? It's a hot rod all right, but has carpet, so is it a "B"? Then a course it does have side steering and a perrty interior, so is it a "C"? Dang Done it! It has a "ski bottom", tell me it ain't a Sutterford "D" class bass boat! Or don't you know either? hehehe. And I don't want to race no V bottoms in 1/8th mile cause I can't pack no air quick enough to fly the boat.

Give this thread some time to develop!
