Hey V8 Astrovan,

I'm in Gainesville and need some info on this event.
(Boat of yours is very cool, by the way...) Where is S & F gang putting in on July 3 & 4? Is there a rendezvous? Time? We have questions but need answers. No answers? Then we'll settle for beer! Man, I didn't know that land-locked G'ville had any other hot boats. By the way, I don't want to start a war but bar-b-que in Fanning Springs is best around.

P.S. : Do you know 'Allison' Paul (Blue & white boat) or 'Hydrostream' Alan (new Red and white) Both in Gainesville. Both super-fine boats. See you there. Thanks,

Robin, we all stay at the holiday inn in chiefland. We put in at the fanning springs ramp and usually run up to the santa fe. It is always a blast. We try and put in early but most of our hungover asses dont make it out until 12 or so:D. I cant wait!!!

Thank you Q-Shot but I have one small question... The Fanning Springs ramp is a beauty but it is way-y-y-y down river from Santa Fe. I guess we need BIG gas tanks! You only need to gun it UP river because we can drift home DOWN river if we run out of gas! Thanks for the info...! See you there!

is everyone still planning on runing saturday? robin i was thinking of putting in at sandy point and meeting them at rock bluff. then playing. i don't know how much gas it would take me to run from fanning all the way up. but plans are changable, so i may stay in cheifland. just can't decide. this sucks.....

ya there is one at the bridge at rock bluff. but i don't have a bunch of room to carry a gas can and i am lazy so walking up and down the boat ramp just don't seem like a good idea, but maybe. there is a gas pump at sandy point on the santa fe on the water. i think he uses 87 octane. just a brief update on the water cops in the area. they have been watching rock bluff pretty heavy. not real bad but they are there. it seems they have been stopping more bow riders (overloaded) and people not paying attention than anyone else. the sandbar where the santa fe meets the suwuannee has been closed. they have "no trespassing" signs at the waters edge. the sandbar in the middle of the river north of rock bluff is just right. its about waist deep there. there are two more sandbars close to the santa fe/suwuannee also. the itchtucknee seems to still be ok. just an update for everyone.

Man, oh, man I'm glad I asked! So as I understand it, we either cruise softly and carry a big tank, or take our chances and drift home downriver. Both choices sound o.k. because how bad can a day on the river be, gas or no gas? Good to learn about the river cops, too. Did not know that. Thanks, Robin

yepp cops have been givin B.U.I's like crazy soo dont do anything stupid. we get 87 oct. anyways n jus add oct booster. saves a lil bit of money.bought a 55 gal drum of oct booster from vp race fuel. it ups it 10 numbers.

Hmmm... I do not know where Parker is but curious to learn what river mileage is between Fanning Springs ramp to Sandy Point to Rock Bluff. I also heard thee was a put-in 4 miles west of Fort White called Ellie Mae's near the Santa Fe. Anyone know?

its on (i think 129), the same road sandy point is on. you just cross the river and its the next road to the right.

I'm back with some Suwannee mileages for thirsty engines. Mmileage is approximate so don't bust my chops. Hope this helps:

Fanning Springs rampto Otter Springs (Pine Island Road) = 5 mi.
Otter Springs to McMillan Bluff ramp = 5 miles
McMillan Bluff Ramp to Wannee ramp (SW 10th Street) =5 mi.
Wannee ramp to SR 353 (Guaranto Spring) = 5 mi.
SR 353 to 138 ramp (Hatch Bend/Butler Estates) =10 mi.
138 to Suwannnee River Cove (Suwanne River) = 6-7 mi.
or
138 to Sandy Point (Santa Fe River) = 2-3 mi.

This means a boat ride from Fanning Springs to Sandy Point (Santa Fe River) = 30-35 miles, one way
Round trip = 60-65 miles! As I said, mileage is approximate!
More important, I think the BBQ joint in Fanning/Old Town is "Huckleberry's." Excellent BBQ!

See ya'
