I almost never use it anymore, but I'll post a picture anyway!

1993 Suzuki GSX-R 750W. Less than 5000 miles, totally mint. This was my favorite year for them. Kerker carbon fiber full (real) race exhaust and header, full re-jetting, +2 rear/-2 front sprockets.

Up next, 2005 GSX-R 1000 : ) I'll never part with the purple beast though!

This is my baby...I've had it for two years now and I still love it. It's my daily commuter and my track bike (with a change of fearings). The mods list is very long and expensive, and lives little alse to be desired. Infact I'm off to Phillip Island monday 31st to quench the need for speed again.

This bike is mine only via genetics. My Grandfather was partners with a guy named Andrew Strand in St. Paul, Mn. and formed the Cyclone Motorcycle Co. and built street and board track racers from 1913 thru 1916 before going out of business. At one time their Cyclone held a board track world record at 113 MPH.
Grandpa designed the motor and was the lead draftsman.
Just a few of these left. I'll take any Cyclone parts or data that anyone comes up with!

Boardracers were very cool. For those of you unfamiliar, picture a smaller scale Daytona track with banking but the whole track's pavement is wood. Most of the bikes had no brakes and, for the time, went like hell. Lot's of deaths, both riders and spectators. It was a really popular sport before the war. The one that sms has shown is worth some pretty big bucks.

In my typical "buy now what you wanted back then" mentality, here's my latest aquisition, fresh from E Bay today. It won't be here for a couple of weeks. It's a 73 model SC 500 Yamaha, a 500 CC single motorcrosser. It wasn't a particularly competitive bike in it's day, but I always thought they were cool. Yamaha only made em for 2 years and the 74's were yellow. The guy had 2 of em and I got the extra one also so I figure I won't have to go scrounging for hard to find parts, then maybe I can sell the excess.

Nice part about this one is it's mostly complete except for the hose from the carb to the airbox. A lot of these got the pipe and silencer changed out, but somehow this one survived.

SC500???

Oh my god... All I remember about those things is that they were almost impossible to start. Maybe if you live at the top of a hill that you can roll down at about 35 mph -- 3rd gear and drop the clutch..

All those big two-strokes from the seventies..

I know what you mean about the "bikes from your past" thing though.... I'm still looking for a nice Honda CB350F (with original pipes) that I don't have to pay $3500 for.. and a Suzuki TS50.. and.........

Baja200,

Isn’t there some saying about how there is nothing more expensive than a free bike/boat?
Is it fast? That is a relative question as compared to what? I see ads all the time for certain V twins described as very fast. These bikes top out at 98mph, not my idea of fast.
The Honda V65 Magna, introduced in 1983, was the first production motorcycle that could run a 10 sec ¼ mile. 20 years later this is still very fast as no current manufacturer makes a cruzer that can demonstrate that kind of acceleration. Yamaha made the VMAX, which was the best competitor, but it could not keep up in the twistys.
The PO had all the aluminum chrome plated.
Check out www.sabmag.org for more info.

but im lookin foward to playin with a 4 stroke
it will be more for learning than anything, i dont get to play with them and i have never owned a 4stroke motor soo i just wanna screw wit it... if i screw it up ill throw it in a dumpster some where;)
about the fast question...
i was just wondering if it was a dog or if yours was called a super magna cause it was jerked up or sumtin... 10 sec 1/4 mi now i have to get it running!

A little one for the north country backroads!

Home brew street wheels on enduro bike for weekdays (three hours on an automotive brake lathe to measure and turn the rotor and sprocket carriers).

This is how a streetbike should be made... brake slides, stoppies and wheelies whenever you want 'em. 15 minutes wrenching and its an enduro racer again.

My brother sold everything he owned to skip our annual Baja trip and run the Dakar Rally last year. This year, we thought we'd team up to inspire some sponsors. It worked, and now we've got the backing to rent two bikes from RallyRaidUK. We're still doing some fundraising, like an indoor XR100 race party in San Francisco tonight (I'll miss it), and shooting a commercial and testing in the Dumont Dunes Columbus Day weekend. All it takes is a lot of phone calls, a few crazed sponsors, and a magazine article or ten to get the word out.

We're two of the four American privateers running this year. Look for us on OLN in January!

A followup on the Dakar Rally 2005:

If any of you S&F biker guys are in the San Francisco area, check out our event on Saturday Night, Nov. 13., we’ll have a slideshow and show-and-tell, with give-aways and raffle prizes at the S.F.M.C., 18th and Folsom in SF. Plenty of beer on tap. All are welcome!

Sorry, if you missed the "run what you brung" indoor XR100 races in September.

We’ll choose the Raffle Grand Prize, which is a trip to Barcelona to be part of our team and see the start and first few stages of the Dakar. By the way, less than 20 have signed up so far...great odds!

If cool and custom is above all, a Harley is your go, and the more you spend the better you look. I for one love some of the custom choppers I see. Would't have one though, and I don't know how they get around corners...

I prepared for the 2005 Dakar Rally with Scott Whitney, who hand built this V-Rod powered sidecar for the Rally in 2006. He didn't finish this year because of a technicality, but plans to try again next year. If you're interested, more info can be found on his site at HogwildRacing.com.

Cool
The ZX-10R is a WHOLE lot of bike to handle. Tons of power (it'll do 3rd gear power wheelies all day long), 105 mph 1st gear (BONE STOCK!!!)....it’s a beast.....the best bike out there right now.
Good luck

nice bikes everyone.. i want another on/off road again, they are a lot of fun..

i agree with ya kevin, except that i hate they way they sound, well and the way most of them look too really-- nothing sounds like an inline4 hitting 13grand, the v's just sound lame in my opinion..

i have an '03 gsxr1000 that i love so much i put 29kmi on it in the 1st year and a half i owned it... i drove it all over the place, down to florida and back(never make that ride again though but i did do it).. i really improved my riding and freestyle skills all around but i never had a bike as capable as this one... i only put maybe 100mi on it this past spring/summer cause i started my own business-- well, plus i was out in the boat every chance i had anyways.. i know i have a pic somewhere-- oh, heres one just bringing it up with my feet by the headlight.. the highchair wheelies are great fun but i think my favorite is putting it up on the front wheel-- around 80mph and put it straight up on the nose, my best is about 350ft on the front wheel but i didnt really practice them for too long so i never really got to competition level with that one... --sean

Here's an APB for a big bore water cooled 4 cylinder motor for a chain drive Bullet 13 surface drive project. Anyone of you know of one available? I'm after the whole motor kit, including fuel injectors and exhaust. I'm don't care if it's a little beat up from a crash, it's going in a boat after all.

that sounds like a cool project, id love to hear the details of this when ya get it going. i just might know someone that would have a motor to sell since he owns a bike salvage place, ill ask him to see..

i have thought about taking the motor out of my gsxr1000 for something like this, id love to hear the yoshi pipe screaming down the lake at 13grand in some 15ft tunnel or something like that!!

hey raceman,

doing it on the side for now (all money made goes directly back into the company) but take calls all day, evenings and weekends, and deliver the parts if necissary, with hopes in about 4 or 5 years i can go full bore with selling parts and doing repairs as well as helping the thousands of bikes coming here on vacation to ride the smoky's, already had 2 customers call that were here on vacation with broken cables and drive belts, theres no one in this particular area doing harleys, (well theres one but he has a BAD reputation) there is a shop here for hondas, been over there to talk with the owner for about an hour and we are refering customers to each other now, got alot of cards out and was busy every day for awhile, looks like it's starting to slow down with winter coming but my supplier says to be ready for the winter "fix it up for spring" business, we will see if thats true or not, they say they sell out of cables every year around that time

plan on running an ad in the paper in the spring

every time i get a call it seems i hear... this is great! we needed something like this here!!... so we will see where it goes

also have a guy i know thats going to the harley school this coming april and when he's done with that (year and 4 month stint) his dad will give him 10 grand for tools if he comes to work with me, will see if he can stay out of the daytona bars long enough to pass the classes hehehehe

Now that's just funny . Take a good long look at any Prostock (V Rod) ,or Top Fuel Harley and find something there that is accaully from HARLEY. Don't take me wrong , I've got nothing but respect for the people who build and ride the bikes . But referring to them as a Harley . They Are Not .Rich Martin 018:cool:

Let's see...

The V-Rod weighs 600 pounds dry and puts down 107 horsepower at the rear wheel. That power-to-weight ratio very good for a Harley, but no match for a sport bike.

I prefer American products to anything, and the V-Rod is great for what it is, but a sportbike it is not.

Dude, if you are talking about drag bikes read rules regarding Harley vs anybody else.
V-Rod is nicest bike (the only that’s half way decent) that has ever rolled from Harley factory (not even a Harley but a Porsche) still can’t be compared to Jap. bikes in any way. Take any Jap bike with half size engine of V-Rod like ZX-6; R6 or CBR-600 and it will blow V-Rod away, and then imagine what 1000cc Jap bike would do.
PS: If you live close to south Florida and have riding experience I’ll let you take my bike out for a spin but you would have to come back here and explain how dumb you statement was regarding V-Rod being fast as rice burners.

First of all, how are you qualifying your "fastest in the 1/4"? Tested by a magazine? Well, all those aren't created equal. Some use corrrection factors for weather and altitude, others don't. The times published in magazines usually aren't the absolute best a bike can do -- depending on exactly how far you'll let "stock" go. A Hayabusa will usually run 9.80 - 9.90 in a magazine test, but a fast, little guy can get one into the 9.30's by just lowering it. The same can be said for ZX14's and ZX12's, along with most of the 1000 supersports. There's no V-twin anything, made by anyone, that can approach this performance. There are some idiots out there insisting that the V-Rod "destroyer" thing is a production motorcycle... I don't think so. So far, I haven't seen one driving down the street. Even if they were, it'd take a pretty biased opinion to make the arguement that they are faster than a ZX14/Hayabusa. First, they come slammed with a slick and wheelie bar.. Second, all the terminal speeds for them I've seen have been in the 135-139 mph range... The Japanese superbikes are all in the mid-140's. Add a slick and bar to any of them and the "Destroyer" is destroyed. I'm sort curious about what you think is the fastest bike.......

rich, cutting this one up can only help it ;)

the frame is hacked so badly it's no longer useable and the forks dont even fit the tree's, they are from an 82 yamaha and are smaller diameter so he put spacers in and when he tightened them it broke the tree's, it's a hodgepodge of parts but i gotta say he had an abundance of "ideas"

i'm gonna leave the motor in the frame for now and go through the motions of getting it tuned in and get the bugs worked out of it while it's wired up and i can roll it out of the shop when other stuff comes in

then on to a new hardtail frame, springer forks, i want a disc brake in the rear and a spool wheel in front, was looking at going with a 40 rake but still thinking of a board track style bobber and a suicide shift, the bobber style would handle better in the curves up here

10.6 + or - a few tenths ;) my little cruiser hurts 600s to 100mph expecially when you get a kid that cant come off the line :D

i did a demo ride on a vrod at the Americade touring ralley last june (06 models) its a cool bike not gonna lie. Just being on a harley that spins 5 grand is a really weird feeling :D but one that climbs to 8 grand  with out throwing parts at you, now thats kool :D . Now heres where they start going down hill, the #1 problem for me a college kid is a 2 year old v-rod with a bunch of miles on it (for a halrley :p ) costs 9 thousand dollars  hows ur arsehole after that purchase? thats exactly three times what i paid for my 98 v-max which is faster, doesnt vibrate at all (although the v-rod doesnt vibrate above idle :) ) still the $$$ just doesnt make sense to me :o . Plus the v-rod sounds like a typical harley, like its missing and about to stall at idle :p unlike the loopy cam of the vmax sayin c'mon c'mon c'mon c'mon :D

Man i cant wait to get back down to FLA !!!!!:D :D 2days....

Here are V-max Numbers.
Yamaha V-Max 10.87 @ 124.0

We are talking here stock bikes from dealership floor. You drive stock or slightly modified bike on the street, not pure race NHRA drag bike which has nothing to do with bikes that you or me ride every day, not even one single bolt is same. And don’t even start talking about race bikes like Moto GP, or Superbike, or Supersport, or Supercross…etc.;)
Actually if you wanna talk racing, let’s talk production bike racing, like Supersport 600 or Superstock 1000.:D
If I was collector, I would worry about depreciation value, but I buy my bikes to enjoy it and ride the s##t out of it. They are cheap to begin with, how do you expect it to hold its value when any top Japanese bike is anywhere from $8,000 to 10,000 band new and where you can get such a performance for that much money? One more thing, who else is capable of building production every day vehicle that can spin 12.000-14.000 RPM and stay together, not only that but I never had any problems with any of my bikes and I had a lot of Jap bikes.
Question for people that say “I would never buy Jap bike”
What brand is your TV, DVD, Stereo, Car Stereo, Camcorder, VCR, Camera, phone, cell phone and your wife’s or kid’s car?
Yeah ok…..
