Last weekend Laser Mod Vee, his wife and me and mine went to Lake Erie and had gorgeous weather for the end of October in Ohio.
About 70 degrees and 3' to 3' waves, very nice weekend.
Friday's forecast for Lake Erie ??????
Gale force winds ( 50 - 55 MPH's) and 10' to 14' waves!!
Don't think I'm ready for that crap yet!!

Now you have more time for the stream.
You may get done before me after all.

Planning on smelling resin all weekend!!
Drug the table saw out in the garage last night to rip stringers.
Have almost everything I need to go balls to the wall and have the core/stringers done by this weekend.
I HOPE, I HOPE, I HOPE!!
Heck if the financial situation was a little better, I'd still like to run it this Fall??

Yep, thats pretty nasty!!
The waves on Erie are right beside each other too, no time to do anything but hold on and head for a safe harbor!!
Thought about a road trip with a couple of lawn chairs and a cooler O beer just to watch!!
Dona and I both dive on the wrecks all over the bottom and this is the weather that sneaks up on the freighter captins trying to sneak in one more run that puts them on the bottom!
Have some really good books about some of those stories.
One where a tug was towing a barge from Detroit to Cleveland when it got caught in a sudden snow storm and lost sight of the barge in tow.
By the time the crew on the tug realized that seeing the tow cable leading into the water (through the snow) meant that the barge had already gone, the tug crew did'nt have time to cut the cable and the barge took the tug to the bottom with it!!
Freaking wrecks all over the bottom of the Great Lakes and with the Zebra Mussels cleaning up the water like they are, and Erie being as shallow as it is, the Dive Master that trained Donna and I say Erie will be the next wreck diving capital of the world!!

That must be why it gets so rough, because it's so shallow. What are the depths?

Gary-Donna,

Did you guys ever dive on the steamer wreck off the east side of Kelley's Iland? It's right out from the airport. I flew over it last summer and you could definitly see the outline from 500 ft up.

As of last week, I'll be joining you in the unemployment line....Iguess I'll have the time to blue print my bottom this winter.
SCT

I'll run up to Downards this week and take a picture of the Merc Mailbox with the digital camera. That should get the natives riled up!!!

I hope the lake freezes early! Those of us in Northeastern Ohio don't want the lake falling in our back yard!

SCT, sorry to hear about your job too!!
Want to split firewood 8 hrs a day with me?? Still taking feakin asprin everyday for my sore muscles!!
Down 15 lbs though, that much less to grind off of the FrankenRude :):) (may even keep the electric start)
And no on the steamer.
Tried to find it twice and could'nt, they say if you get too close you'll het the feakin boiler!! Have seen it marked several times with a clorox bottle, but never when I'm there to dive!!
We dove the Adventure off of the beach at Kellies, and the America off of the Pelee light house this season.
Pretty cool thinking about the history while looking at a 100 yr old steam ship laying on the bottom.
Some big ass Walleye living in the steam engine of the America!!
They think they are guard dogs, and are not afraid of people!!
Tried to send you a message a couple of weeks ago SCT??
B.L., yep the water averages around 30 - 40' in most places.
The wind controls everything on the lake!!
Go's from flat and gorgeous to holly sh*% in nothing flat!!
