I am looking to buy this tunnel hull. I think the boat was made by Canyon Boats in AZ.
20' 2.5 EFI.
From the rear the hull looks like a Mod VP but from the front I can see an open tunnel with the bump at the rear.
WTF is it, a good thing or bad?

THAT IF I AM NOT MISTAKEN IS A CENTER PAD SIMILAR TO WHAT AN ELIMINATOR DAYTONA USES.DAYTONAS ARE ONE OF THE BEST HULLS OUT THERE SO IT CANT BE BAD.

I could be wrong but it looks very similar to a boat made by a company called obsession. Very nice work in there boats.

but if that center pod is veed all they way back to the transom I doubt it will generate much lift. If that is the case it will probably run very wet, which is fine, unless you want a performance boat.

The reason I mention that is because I thought Daytona's had a flat padded keel. Again I'm only guessing as I'm not familiar with that boat...what does the owner say about it's performance?

The owner says 70 MPH but that seems kind of low.
He is running a chopper prop but I don't think that is ideal for this hull.
Anyone know how much this thing should weigh on the trailer?

What is the meant by "Run very wet"?

I BELIEVE WHAT HE IS REFERING TO IS THAT THE BOAT DOESNT GENERATE A LOT OF LIFT TO FLY THE HULL.SEVENTY SOUNDS PRETTY SLOW FOR THAT RIG.IF IT IS ANYTHING LIKE A DAYTONA THEY LIKE CHOPPER PROPS.HOW HIGH IS THE MOTOR?IF HE IS NOT RUNNING IT ABOUT EVEN WITH THE BOTTOM OF THE PAD HE IS LOOSING A GREAT BIT OF POTENTIAL.

Daytonas like choppers unless you are running extremely fast. the Daytona hull is a lot heavier than other tunnels so it needs the extra help the chopper gives it. but the engine has to be close to even or a little above the pad for the prop to work correctly.

There ain't no way on god's green earth that a chopper, even with the pad, is gonna do anything on that boat.

My guess is it weighs well over 1700 lbs, with no pad, and running wet. Setup will probably be closer to what a 21 foot Liberator runs...something like a modified Bravo or Trophy.

Good luck...speed isn't everything...and it is a very cool looking boat.

This is just a wild assumption but it seems that it would push the bow down. This might let you run a better angle on the trim than if it didn't have this "lip" at the back. Also it narrows the air running underneath, compresses it..
What these 2 do got me but seem like would have some postive affect.
If you've seen the flipped hull picture of my STV it has a raised section similar to this, but is a flattened area coming from the inverted Vee. But at speed not much of this center hull is actually in the water or doing anything with the water. Maybe thats the idea? Remove the stuff not doing anything but keep a section for low speed floatation and high speed attitude adjustment.
Like I said just a guess.

what does the back(stern) of that center pad look like??
