I am interested in buying a 1983 pontoon boat with a 2.5 emc engine. I was told to stay clear due to a lack of parts and service, is this true?

Do you mean OMC engine, as in V6 outboard? If so, I wouldn't be hesitant to buy it if it's in good condition and the price is right. Although conventional OMC parts distribution was somewhat disrupted several years ago, I think the stuff is pretty well available through conventionaly channels now and with the internet all things are findable.
