outrace

Gday All,
It's bragging time:D . My old CCC has just knocked off a field of 2.0 & 2.5 F1 mercs in The fourth round of our F1 season here in Aus at Hobart in Tasmania. It was bloody rough and we had a shortened course I missed the start and was in last place, I worked my way up to fifth when there was a stuffing on a turn bouy. At the restart myself and Dash went head to head his 2.5 and my CCC for 6 laps in the end I came out on top with my first F1 victory and definately my best race ever. More info and pics will be on www.f1boat.com.au (http://) soon. Go the mighty Evinrude
Congratulations outrace on your first (of many) victory. Post some pics when you get a chance.
Evinrude knocking off the mercs.... just glad stuff like that does not happen on the top half of the equator ;)
BTW, your link does not work, however, when I typed the address in the address bar it did.
Hopefully this one will work:

Outrace, I think braggin' rights are in order okay, but for your driving ability rather than for the Evinrod. Unless you've found a ton of horsepower in the old crossflow that eluded the OMC engineers when the engines were current, I'd say you must've had a minimum 75 horsepower disadvantage (maybe more) to the current Mercs, assuming they were running S3000's or current Champ motors. I consider that a truly great accomplishment. Congratulations.

My boat is a 17' Brian Troy built in Sydney of his own design and is really good in rough water, which we had there I was also running a small diameter 19" rolla prop which has a heap of rear lift in it, so on the short rough course I had bags of accelleration. That gave me the advantage I needed. Anyway there will be some pics coming as soon as the guy who took them gets a disk burnt for me.

Iam going to paint my engine to Blue and white:)
well I was there! and It was very rough! Outrace (Des) drove extremely well in the conditions and only for a major stuff in on the last lap of the last heat wolud have won the round also!
He was against some quality opposition and although slow at the start showed some exceptional acceleration. One of the boats competing was Tim Seebolds personal boat only some six months or so ago, so outrace gave us omc fans something to cheer about !!!!! i have some digital photos at home so I will attempt to post some tomorrow.
well done Des

Gday Chad you are right it does say 280 on the cowl, it used to say 200 and then I put a bit of white tape in the middle of one of the 0's.
Anthony there was a guy over here running one of those engines a couple of years ago, they bogged up the back of the gearcase and fitted merc props to it and picked up heaps. Believe it or not all they did was put three 1/8th inch s/s pins in between the OMC prop shaft and the merc splines in the prop.
BL you have a PM.
