One of check valves in the front half of my 2.5 had a piece of white plastic sticking up. Does this mean it's bad? I stuck it back in but the hole is so damn small I don't know if it was ruined or not.

Ray did you get my e-mail?
Do they simply thread out and back in?

A long piece of 1/8" rod from the back side or drill them out. (CAREFULLY!!!)

The damn case halves are together. I'm getting a stern drive!! Is there anyway to check and see if they are ok? I don't know why the plastic was pushed up. Maybe from blowing air through during assembly.

A small easy out to twist them out? I really don't want to drill there now. Are they pressed in?

No need to split the block. Use a nice strong long deck screw( drywall will do ). Use vise gips and thread in tight. Put a paper towel on the underneath side of the holes. You don't want little pcs of brass going thru the motor. Clamp the vise grips on the screw and then hammer on the vise grips to pull them out. They are press/ loctited in. Clean with brake clean and reinstall. I have a pair in stock and I want to get rid of them so email me if you want a deal on them. New in wrapper.

They are cheap and testing them would be easy if they were out. Just put them in the end of a hose. Air should go one way thru them. Not so easy to test in the motor.

Should be able to blow thru from the front but not suck. With a piece of small hose that is flat on the end ya might be able to seal up on the face of the check valve and test it. But ya might get a tast of premix if the one that looks good is bad. Ain't no way your gonna get one out in a condition to test:eek: You could use a air hose from the other side of the hole (in the next cyl.). But it would have to be apart.

I'll put some Tygon on the end of a syringe. If the one isn't too bad to get out I'll just change them all. Pre-mix...I have that for breakfast:)

I just pushed a piece of 1/8th" tygon over the valve and blew threw them and yes sucked to see if they sealed. They were good to go.

David, where did you get the new checkvalves from? Is it one of those parts that you order from your Merc dealer and wait forever for it because it is backordered? I have a couple bad check valves on my motor.
