It's an OMC thing.....basically meltdown insurance for a poor midrange carb circuit......it cools the piston tops with fuel before you lift from a long WOT by using the enricher circuit.
OK....here comes the jokes:p

Do you have to worry about " washing down" a pretty much stock OMC motor, or just ones that have modified carbs? After makeing a WOT pass with the 89 GT200 on my Vegas, do I have to worry about burning something up when I let off of the gas? The motor is probably only spinning around 6000rpms. Carbs are stock.

Washdown, haven't heard that term before. Nothing but stock stuff 'round these parts. Are you gonna rig that switch to activate the enricher circuit?

Thanks,
Jeff

Is your motor stock? If so you're probably OK.....

What ya wanna listen for is "decel knock" when you lift...
A clak..clak...clak...clak..clak ...clak when you lift.......
If your gettin' any decel knock you might want to richin' up your midrange by reducing your mid-air bleeds to around half the stock value/ size. If you got a stock motor with an airbox and middy carbs you should be OK.....Make sure you run good gas that's all .......93* only.

The main problem is OMC LU's don't ratchet like Mercs so when you lift, the motor's still spinning hard with very little fuel/ oil.

I will be running long hard WOT runs @ 90mph after breakin and need to "washdown" and cool my piston tops before I lift as added insurance to prevent sticking a piston. The button lets me step on it before I lift without groping for the key @ 90 mph:eek:

Yep, my motor is mostly stock with the stock airbox. As far as I know, all it's got is aftermarket reeds, shaved heads, and the bottom two carbs have been jetted up one size. Other than that, it's stock. Yep, 93 octane all the time. The motor is reading 120psi.

By the way, anyone know where I can pick up a new regulator/rectifier for cheap?

Thanks

Anyone ever try getting a vacuum signal off the intake to do that? Dumb question?
