Has anyone any pointers or tips on repairing cracks in metalflake. I have never worked on a flaker, so its kinda new to me. The cracks are on the 'wing' tips on a V-king.

I'm thinking of opening the crack out slightly and filling with clear gelcoat, will this work or just look worse? Is there a spacific way of doing this?

Thanks, Alan.

Alan.If it has not effected the color or removed or damaged the flake it will work. You can apply it with and artist brush to get it in the cracks better. If you can run water over it and it looks ok it is most likely you can finish it to look the same. You could use clear urethane to fill them if they are clean and don't repell the paint away from the crack.Yoiu may have to open it up a little and scrub it with acetone and a toothbrush to get it clean enough.good luck Lonnie:cool:

Thanks, the cracks are fairly fresh, it was a prety tight squeeze in the container so the boat got knocked around a bit on the crossing.

Thanks, will let you know how I get on.;)

i agree with racemore,if the crack is only in the clear.it's not really a problem to repair.if it has marked or damaged the metalflake then it will need respray of metalflake and clear.
