that is exactly what was wrong with that boat. It loks like a little offshore racer but in reality its like a flat bottom near the transome. A kid had one on the lake with a short shaft 50 merc and it really didnt handle that well. A pad Might cure it.

Why does my name end up in everyone elses post?? Thats it just a 50 what a wimp I'd throw at least a 70 in it to make it fun. my first boat was a maximus (12 feet flat bottom) that dad and i built when i was a kid. Plans said maximum of 15 hp, I put a 4 banger 50 merc on it went like a muther

putting a stainless prop on a 25 is like caviar on a cheese burger. save your money for a bigger motorand some fiberglass.

in my opinion, a pad wouldnt be worth the work for the gains you would see with a 25 hp, with a 50 hp ... thats a different story

You have received my comments in PMs.
A pad would certainly give you a little something to rest on....;)

Either solid wood or End Grain Balsa. Grind down till you reach the glass. Vinylester or Epoxy resin would work great for secondary bonding like this. Keep the wood oversize so it leaves you room to shape it just they way you want. Then you will need to cover it all with structural fiberglass such as 1708 Bi-Directional cloth and a finish layer of a 6 oz cloth to make it easier to fill and finish...
You will need to grind about 2 to 3 inches wider than the area you are working so you can overlap the outer glass for a good bond.
Good luck..
