hey pirogue. I'm looking at the merc service manual and here's what they want. RODS- light oil to threads and bolt face 1st torque - 15 lb.in. 2nd - 30 lb.ft. plus an aditional 90 degrees. CANNOT reuse these rod bolts! FRONT HALF - same oil procedure for main bolts 30 lb.ft. and 90 deg. outer flange bolts 28 lb.ft.
HEAD BOLTS- top 2 stat housing bolts 30 lb.ft and 90 deg. the rest are 20 and 90 deg. I just got done with a 225 that was never apart and the top 2 stat housing head bolt threads in the block were pulled out on both sides of the block. In my opinion 30 plus 90 deg is to much for the small 8mm bolt but I could be wrong. Maybe you should talk to US1 , Jay smith, or other HP
engine buiders for the specs and different bolts or studs they use.
