Well Rob, I'am sure you'll brake the 120 this year, the magic 32 cleaver and a half mile no problem, that 26p you ran 118 isn't that the same one i ran 118 with two people 4 years ago? I thought you had a 30 cleaver how's that one run? it's true you and Ken go back and forth, but I'de have to say G-TRAIN would be the quickest at HARDY!

I'm buying a Jeep Cherokee for long-distance towing soon. I'll be at Hardy Party this year. Wait and see...

Wolverine

I agree, G-train is nasty but Sawhorse is nastier. Even without the nitrous. The 26p was Denny's. The 26p that you ran 118 with is my brothers. I ran 119 in the narrows with the 30p with more to go, but boats got in the way. You know how it is up there.

Wolverine
03-11-2004, 12:54 PM
Ya know, we're all close in speed. The STV and Mirage thing is always arguable. We just have fun with it. But who is BUNNTWISTER to say anything about the boats. Does he even own a boat or just a ride-a-long:confused:

RichS
03-11-2004, 05:56 PM
Hognuts eh:p Sounds likea pokey Mirage to me. Or is it just smoke and mirrors:D My ignition and reeds will see if the nitrous sawhorse can hang:cool: :D ;) Gonna stir ya'll up a little more this summer.
ps. RD can work a putor???? (welcome aboard)

Wolverine

Hey Rich, I just got on line at home yesterday. Holie finally got her friend to connect us to his new internet service called Zylus. He used to own Pathways. Sorry I forgot to include you. Should be a good run, you and Sawhorse. You and that Bayliner were neck and neck last year!!!:D :D :D:)

BLADETWISTER
03-11-2004, 07:21 PM
Twistedneck and Bunntwister. I could make fun of Big DaddyHN too. I thought maybe you would appreciate me sticking up for those Mirages. Guess not. But I still think Ken and Big Daddy have the sweetest tunnels at the sandbar. I don't know why RichS says pokey Mirage, he got beat by it!

Wolverine
03-11-2004, 07:30 PM
I,m glad you like our boats. I'll sell you mine so I can go buy an STV --- NOT !!! Was that you racing the Bayliner? Just so you got the story straight, it wasn't my boat RichS was racing, it was Sawhorse on nitrous, POLETWISTER.

BLADETWISTER
03-11-2004, 07:39 PM
I'm gonna have to change my name. Do any of you guys know of a nice tunnel for sale in our area. I heard Big Daddy was selling his motor and maybe his boat. Is that true? I'd be interested in either or all.

Wolverine
03-11-2004, 07:52 PM
Absolutely not!! Yet. Unless I could get my old Kottmaha back. You probably heard of the other white and purple Mirage that ended up getting Repoed. Wasn't mine. Haven't heard of any around here. Sorry about the Bayliner comment.:p

HYDROVAGAS86
03-11-2004, 08:40 PM

MODVP22 - thanks for posting the pic of my boat. I hope you got that engine figured out.
Kinda wish I had the Kottman Yamaha on the boat instead of the 01 drag. Miss that big midrange bang! Used to be a lot of fun being the lone wolf in the pack of Riverdogs! Loved my Kottmaha, love my Merc, what can I say.

Yammer should have had a Kottman Yamaha instead of that Neudecker piece of work. It'd still be running and he probably wouldn't have gotten bitten by Riverdog Ken. Just nipped a bit.

Rob,
No problem, I just wish I had a nicer picture of your boat. yeah, we figured out what the problem was, stuck injector and the Diamond Flywheel was rubbing the stator for some reason. Oh well. I thought your 01 Drag ran pretty well. Our STV is for sale, got a Mirage River Racer that will be really sweet.
Any of you guys making Rumble 04?:)

The truth is we swapped wins as much as you and I. He always had more upstairs. Too bad we didn't get the chance to run before it was gone, would have been interesting. I'm 280lbs. though. I'd like to forget that 140lb. run!!!
Do you believe in reincarnation?

BLADETWISTER

Seems to be the only ones telling things like they really happened is Fullthrottle and Big Daddy. We sat across from consumers and watched the yellow stv and mirage race 5 times. The mirage won each time. He was behind twice and ran the yellow boat down quite quickly.
Now Ive been at Hardy long before most of these boats ever started showing up. You guys can say what you want, that Yamaha was one fast motor. Used to be on a STV. Beat up on the mercs pretty bad. The only one to run heads up with it was the blue STV with the mod merc drag motor.
Big Daddy, what do you mean when you say hibernation and reincarnation? Do you have the Yamaha again? I keep hearing that you are selling the merc drag motor. I know you said no, but the rumor up here says different. I heard $12,500 will buy it. If so, Email me. Thanks.

the yammy is gone is not as fast as whats on the back now . the yammy was getting slapped around by the STOCK drag. on the bret's boys blue stv. now they (mark and company) are getting thier butts handed to them .by the same motor /with light kevlar layup mirage. If you cant beat them put the wrenches, compression tester, light weight flywheels to rest no more wrenchin , no more crying, the merc is the way to go fast and to keep the rust growing on the wrenches in the garage! ....not to mention all the long distance phone calls to cotman. gas in one hole oil in the same...my two motors and my two cents sea ya Dan

Oh that,s right your boat wasn't running right. Aways Excuses.
Blade nobody said the yammy wasn't fast just said wasn't as fast as a Drag:D Merc stv proved that and it wasn't just one run either more like 4run's with a 140#der driving .So there take that.;)

Your right Ken, you won. However you measure. 3 to 4 lengths of a yardstick=boat length. Whatever. I lost. You CAN beat me with my low compression heads on. Nothing to brag about though!
The twister is nobody from our group. He must not own a merc cuz he just calls em like he sees em, I like that. If he did, he'd talk trash about the old Yammie like the rest of you guys. You mercury boys chase it for five years and one day it loses. That one day is all you mercury boys remember. If it aint a merc, it didn't win. That's the mercury way in a mercury mind in a mercury world. Here's the merc mindset. It ain't ever broke, your just tinkering with it to make it go faster. If it breaks, don't talk about it, just fix it and keep quiet. Lie about it if necessary. Never happened. Thats the mercury way. I own a merc too and still don't think it's gods gift. If it had some torque it'd be great. But since I still uphold the Yammie, the real Legend, I don't seem to fit into that little mercury click. I like em both . The Mirage/drag combo still sits in the garage--untouched--no couple of grand in it. Scared to touch it -- don't need any problems. Gas & go -- that's the ticket. Still gotta put new rings in it though.

I'LL give the YAMI it's RESPECT, back in the day's of just 260's '97-'98 when we first meet RD, he surprized the hell out of us with it. I remember thinking this guy with the drilled exhaust yamaha thinks he's got something! heading up river and he put three on us from a roll, DAMM i guess he's got something! IT'S TRUE for two years he picked on all the merc's, i won't mention any names, but he made all of us merc guys spend money$$. It's also true we never got to see what the last yami could do? who know's what could have been?, it looked really STRONG, the only time we ran your last motor from a roll we both had passengers and we stayed dead even into the 90's?, but damm it, FOR THE RECORD IT NEVER BEAT THE MIGHT DRAG :D :D :D .....hehe :confused

I'll give you that Mark, and we all had passengers. Only had 20 minutes on the new motor, didn't want to stand on it too hard. Guess we'll never know. Probably a good thing cuz that means we can sandbar trash talk for years to come about the great race that never happened.:D :D Seems to always get a rise out of everyone. Let it go for now.:(

Only been 2 kinds of motors ever run fast at the sandbar and OMC aint been one of em. They sure make a whole lotta noise trying. Kibbey, are you the guy with the red and white mirage wanna-be? If so you need to learn to drive that thing a bunch better-your not safe. Those other guys been going 100mph & over for years. New kid on the block wants to go fast. Go fast like you drive now and your gonna end up like that other mirage driver a few years back-crashed and in the hospital. Just remember - INEXPERIENCE=ACCIDENT !;) Dont need that at the sandbar!

hey kibbey i dont think anyone is trying to put you down on your driving skills because everyone here started as a rookie. i know because i am still a rookie myself. i think the point that was trying to be made ( even thow poorly put ) is the first thing is being safe and not too drive beond your ability. you can ride "your" jagged edage as much as you want but just dont go past it untill you know that you are ready. i too have seen these guys do several 100+ passes myself and road with them while they are doing it as well and i never had the feling that they were out of control or the boat was. but then again these guys have been doing this years , compaired to us. and after they make that 118 - 126 mph pass they come back and clean the sh** out of there shorts. so don't get madd just listen too what everyone has to say and draw your own two cents worth out of it and throw the rest out:) .

Great pic though. I think Denny's fuel pump is bad , won't stay running. Rained all night and morning so we didn't go. I sure hope you're not serious thinking that Denny or Guy is the twister, and certainly not Guy. The Midway would be the last place you'd find him. I think Happy said enough for all of us. Now that had to been done on Lake Michigan. Now if you come to the little sand bar better be ready to run from a dead stop thru the 1/4 at a 105 or more. By the looks at your Gps you shouldn't have any problems with that

Actually, I think I'll need an 1/8 mile head start, just a lttle family ski boat, but were coming up to check out all your tripple digit rides anyway.

Ken, not as of yet. Last year I was at 118 at 800 feet on GPS with water getting in one cylinder. It was only turning 9000. I'll see in a couple weeks when I get my speedmaster back. Hopefully have the water problem fixed and it should run around 10,300 or so. Now I don't want to confuse you but that is my race boat. My pleasure boat is running 97.6 just out of the quarter with a 2.4 carb and a 29 Hoss prop. It's only turning 7100 rpm. All of this from an idle start too. :D . Tom

I do want to apologize as I didn't congratulate all that have achieved the 120 mph plateau. It's not an easy thing to do. At Jasper I weighed in at 1107 and there's a picture of it at www.kdba.net under the 10 second boats. I'll be getting my lower next weekend along with a bored out 2.5 block. Tom.

Wouldn't be a stretch with 1.75 gears. ;) Put Bladetwister in the boat and it would still be real quick. Was radared at 116.3 in Plymouth '02 at Progas weight. 'Course sea level salt water helps too:D

Here we go again, the Mirage finally makes a top end run and breaks well into the 120mph zone and the STV faithful are already making excuses that the GPS must be inaccurate. The evidence is coming soon. Need firewire. It's a good number though, but I wasn't going upriver, just into the wind.;)

Hi Tom and Mark, finally on line at home today! Got to looking at posts and found that Ken and me seem to be the idols of the BLADETWISTER. Nice to know somebody has been watching us guys. Its not all for naught. C'mon , you know I can run with the big dogs upstairs! Just never had that perty 32 cleaver you and Kenny always run. No brick wall, just never ran very far. She'll go there with your 32. Remember, I ran 118 with a 26p. But BLADETWISTER is right, we are one and two at the sandbar. Who killed Kenny! sounded like you needed that 32 then.

To answer your question that your post said just a few minutes ago before you edited it, I didn't need the 32p to get there, but just think if I would have. Just what seems to be the problem. I guess it's just not acceptable to the STV mindset that a Mirage can and does have top end. Budweiser offers case managed counseling (12 to 24pks) for those STV owners in Mirage denial. They also offer a exercise program of 12oz. curls.:)

Mercstv, what's your problem? The GPS speeds that I posted were from the sandbar with plenty of witnesses including yourself. The sandbar is a short run. Your 122 was done in a long run probably 3-4 times the distance. I have never said that your boat wasn't fast. You and Mark are the only two crazy enough to actually try to break 120 with two aboard. You two are joined at the hip--the Skipper and his little buddy--just like two brothers should be. I just don't understand where all this hostility toward me is coming from. Now you drag MODVP22 into it. Is it because he owns a Mirage too? I finally make a long pass and put up a big number and I get this kind of bull****. Like I said in an earlier post, my Mirage breaks into the 120 zone and out come all the STV nay-sayers making excuses and accusations. Light boat--hell I weigh 280 so there goes that excuse, inaccurate GPS--What?, only had Denny as a witness--well, at least I had a witness, but his word us no good to you STV guys since he owns a Mirage too, did it at Hess Lake--I live there,Duh--at least I did it at the lake in front of people and not some secluded part of a river somewhere. I don't get it. You go out with the GPS reading zero and come back with what ya run--it works the same for everyone--no magic button to push to create your own numbers.

mercstv
04-12-2004, 11:03 AM
no hostilities tord you or the mirage, we'll have beer at the sand bar you can go run 120 in front and prove me wrong, hell you hit 118 with two in 1700ft should be no problem?

Wolverine
04-12-2004, 11:48 AM
I honestly don't think that it's possible to run 120 in our boats and get slowed down enough to make the turn. Hell, I was lucky to make it at 118 and damn glad to have that extra weight in the boat to help slow it down. I ended up running over some giggly weeds and almost caught the tree branches sticking out from the shoreline. Barely made the turn. I'll leave that challenge to someone else thanks. I'd rather sit at the sandbar and drink beer with the rest of you and just talk about doing it.:)

Original rings, but not the reeds.
Check out the post 'top speed for a STV'. It looks like most any STV can run that speed with a 260. They even run that with a 280 with a limiter! Those STV's must be faster than Mirage's.

Jason, maybe you should get out and run that new motor a little bit to see where you're at before spending some big dollars on an ET. Jim Morris has a nice 28p Yamaha style made by Performance Propellers for sale. Denny has one in a 26p that runs very well. They are a very sturdy propeller and seldom break. If a 28 is what you think you need, consider his prop. Just a suggestion.

Jason, I was just using Denny's prop for reference, it is not for sale. The prop works well on a Mirage hull and is just another option to buying an ET. If you use a Yamaha style prop, you may need a 28p. Denny's 26p PP turns more RPM's than any of the 26pET's we have. Call me if you have any questions.
