What would be a typical price to install a new pair of engines (and remove the old ones).
Yes, I'm still looking ... haven't found the right boat yet but have found plenty that would need new power, so need some ballpark numbers to include into a total cost.

If the brands are the same so the only thing involved is removing the old ones and hanging the new ones, a reputable shop would probably charge between 500.00 and 800.00 to do the swap. This builds in a little $ to cover the BS that ALWAYS comes up. Now, a lot of people on here will lambast(sp?)me and tell you they would do it for $100.00 or maybe even free and this may be true. Many of the people on here will help you for nothing for the love of boating and the people who do it. The prices I gave you are based on people who do it for a living and have all the special tools and equipment associated with maintaing a fully equipped shop and the necessary expenses incurred therein.

I know. I'm looking at cases where the motor brands and models (and age) differ a lot, so you have to assume some changeout of controls/wiring. I would consider doing a swap myself but I don't have anyplace to "put" a 35' boat to work on it (my driveway isn't 35' long and is way too steep), plus I'd rather spend my limited time boating not working.
Thanks - Greg

that looks reputable, ask around a bit for references, then give that shop the work and you will hopefully develop a good long term working relationship that will be mutually beneficial to everyone. You get good service and your local guy makes his mortgage that month. Everyone wins.

oh the blowboaters on the severn will love ya with twins:D
i feel the same way, hell between work and the cold i barely have time to work on my boat.
also you better ask what the turnaround time is at shops now cuz they're usually swamped and would'nt have it back to you by laborday

The ROM from Ed's near Richmond (big Yamaha dealer) is $5-6k. Seems pretty extreme, guess that's how they make up the discount on the engines.
