and wear your vests .

We'll head north 15 miles to a beach in Cromwell and have some pizzas delivered . {There will be a bucket for donations for the pizza . Any surplus will be donated to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation .}
Then another 15 miles north to Hartford and 30 miles back to Haddam Meadows .

* FYI * There are no facilities at the beach , "Port 'O' Lets" at the ramp and other ramps along the way !!!!!!!!!

IMPORTANT !!! PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU ARE ATTENDING (and how many) BY OCT 13 SO I CAN ORDER PIZZA . IF YOU DON"T CALL OR EMAIL ME PLEASE BE PREPARED TO SUPPLY YOUR OWN FOOD !!!!
PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN BEVERAGES .

Yea I know the kind E , you where one of them people! I've got a couple of years on ya went from NYC (Bronx) to Bristol Central to living in New Hampshire I'm in shock!! But theres lots of smooth water for me to fluff up and most places I can lead the pack with my old clam boats (lol)

I'm looking forward to the run. It's been 17 years since I ripped one off a barge wake ( quick lesson slow down when passing boats bigger than your house or yard !!They have huge wakes!!) in the river I imagine things have changed  ( the last time I was running a 14' MFG covette hull rate for 75 hp, with a punched out tweeked up tower of power (165 hp) Merc , not much on brains or saftey but went like hell handled like sh*t but now looking back I understand why people where waching me!!!!! and I thought I was Kool  )
Hmmmmmmmmmmm???? Maybe Not????

yea as a kid i was a southington punk rich boy that lived in the hills of southington off mt vernon rd . Worked at lake compounce in high school ,after hershey went belly up there. Man it was great free concerts & hot chics every where. Thats when they had the big out door stage & all the big label bands played there
metallica, aerosmith ,motley crue etc etc etc. Those were the days.
As a kid we never really did the river we hung out with our boats in the sound rocky neck giants neck area. Thats where are camp was. But u lived in BRISTOL? I use ta cruise bristol as a kid on friday nights with my dart gt:eek: & sat nites was berlin turnpike cruisin. Those were the days seems like yesterday but im 31 now so its been some time. Will definately have ta hook up & hang out.
Hopefully ill have the vector, if i ever get off my butt & finish it but my kona is turn key one way or another im shooting for it.
Speaking off the aqua turf we had are senior class dinner there ill never forget it we made a packy run (liquor store)the day before we filled the spare tire well of my car with ice & packed it full of beer, it was like 80 that day after the dinner we went out to the car to go party & all the ice melted & we had a giant puddle of water under my car:eek:  ill never forget that lol but i forget if the beer was warm or not:p

SLT X-60

We have a group of APBA X class Super Light Tunnels in the area that are interested in coming. I would expect 5-6 boats. We can run in any conditions and like to go long distances. Ever seen a 13' inflatable do 80mph and average over 70mph for over an hour without a stop.

We'll be there.

Mike,
no boo-hoo-ing about the gas money. if you
have the means to buy a boat like that, then the
gas is just pocket change for you. it looks real
nice, hope i can make the conn. run and get to
see it.

I was hoping to get on the water before winter.

Dutch
09-09-2004, 09:52 PM

a little too much myself. i bought a super

I'll be there too! For the guys coming up Friday, I'll catch up with you. I live right in Cromwell, and if anyone's uncomfortable with leaving their boat in the hotel lot, we can park them at my shop, just down the road from the Radisson in Cromwell.

Chuck, It takes me 3.5 hours pulling a trailer from Seaside Park, NJ to Cromwell, CT. I drive it just about every weekend. I can give you some tips on what roads to go if you like.

I'll be there, with my slow tunnel vee.

Hey TNT- if Mirage's are so much faster,
why aren't you putting your two cents in
the killer thread in the general section?

Rich Owen
09-13-2004, 06:02 PM
Hey Dutch , What boat did you get ?

joeboff
09-13-2004, 07:01 PM
hey rich, i was talking to marshall the other day and he told me a story about an outlaw boater on the sunday of memorial day weekend shortly after we left guildersleave. you wouldnt know anything about this would you?:D :D :D :D see you soon justin. ( supposed to meet russ this week on the river to check a few things out)

Dutch
09-13-2004, 07:31 PM
Rich,
I got a Slow Tunnel Vee as TNT would call it.
It's a 2000 Triad STV River Rocket with a 1998
2.5 drag. It's a neat ride, but kinda wish I would
have waited for another Euro. I hate it when
douche bags rag on other peoples stuff just
because it's not what they own, or I mean what
their dad owns.
Does anyone ever camp over at the landing
after the river run? We left pretty quick the
other year because I knew if we stayed the
beer would have started flowing a little too
good. How close is a motel if I don't feel like
driving home? I will drive up early Saturday
morning, it's about 300 miles.
Take care,
Matt

Rich Owen
09-13-2004, 10:14 PM
Justin , The ticket reads "traveling in the excess of slow" in a no wake zone . I never should have stopped to talk to Marshall , the cop said he never would have caught me (didn't know he was chasing me)

Matt , Check out the first post in this thread for motels , they're about 9 miles north of Haddam Meadows . Glad you got another STV , sounds FAST ! If I remember correctly you were the first one in the parking lot 2 years ago .

is there any room for slow boats on this run? My 24' Banana only buns maybe 55 or so. Or is there a place we could meet up as just spectators? My girlfriend is also nervous about running it up on the beach (the boat is both of ours). I'm sure you all run much more expensive boats than I do, any one ever have problems doing this? Also how long of an event is this? We would probably be heading back to MA after the run. I think thats all:confused:

Thanks
Adam

Dutch
09-16-2004, 07:54 PM
Adam,
this is probably the greatest get together
I have ever been at. You would have a fun
time if you came in a jon boat with a 15 hp.
Everyone is here to have a good time, it's
a blast. If you're gf is worried about pulling
the boat on the beach, bring along a little
square of carpet, put that down, and then
pull the boat on it. You will kick yourself
in the ass all winter long if you miss this one.
Hope to see you there.

Ronnie are you gonna ride shotgun with me? The last time you rode in the flyswater we got to the dam first. Three weeks to go and the fly hasn't abused me yet. This year the object is to get to Hartford last. I can't wait to see all you guy's. Dog's and burger's at the ramp at the end of the day. Make sure everyone brings something to drink and a life jacket.

I posted in the general discussion about the speed limit on 95:
Whoever is comming up 95 to the CT run this weekend makesure you slow down between exits 20 - 30. It is a 45mph zone and YOU WILL get a big ticket. Ever since that bridge melted they have been enforcing the 45 mph speed limit. How else would CT pay for all these nice roads we have. See you guys on Saturday.

FROM:suberboat owners forum OSO
RE:CT river run
this was one of the best events we have been to, well organized, great people, great hardware, there was a little bit of everything, from a couple of inflatables that were running very fast (yes inflatables!) to lots of hot SOBs from 15ft to 30 ft, to a few offshore cats and a Cig (maybe a 35?) People were great, very nice homeowners allowed this event basically in thier backyard,(thanks again to the family that allowed my wife into thier beautiful home to use the facilities!!)
Superboat was well represented, lots of 21s (joe from east coast marines beautiful 21 with a 300) and lots of 24s (superbashes really is beautiful! and Pats looks and runs great, got some pretty good air on that last wake Pat!) a few ob 30s and a few 30y2ks.
Super30 was great to see you and the misses again, I have some good shots of your 30y2kalso, if my cam can be fixed!
A big thank you to RICH OWEN the organizer of this event, what a great group of people you guys should be proud! We have raced in professional events that were less organized than this informal get together!

JUST AN ADDITIONAL NOTE TO THE SCREAM AND FLY GUYS:
I am usually the smallest boat in the pack with the offshore crowd, being a single engine 30ft that barely does 90mph and I am used to being swamped by bigger faster boats. It is easy for me to forget that my wake while insignificant for an offshore boat, is substantial for a 16 foot pickle fork boat that does 120 mph! We were not in time for the drivers meeting, and really had no idea how the run was planned, I hope I did not break any rules, offend or swamp any of my new SOB friends (my wife did learn how far an outboard can throw a rooster tail !, I told her to wear rain gear!)
If anyone can post in scream and fly, please post a link to this thread!

Thanks again,

Jim and Jessica Capie JESSIE JAMES III
