What will finger porting do for my 2.4 ?

Will this help pick up low end and top end also? Does anyone have any good pics. on finger porting a 2.4?

The 2,4 l are already fingerported OEM...if I understand it right.
Yamahas with only 3 ports can be finger ported , thats a port grinded into the cyl wall.

Early 2.4s were not finger ported. Old Mercs.;)

The 83 up 2.4's were fingerported. If you have a pre 83, you really shouldn't invest a lot of cash in hp mods. If its an 83 or up, its already got them. To answer your question, adding finger ports will aid the cylinder filling ability with less chance of the fuel air mixture falling out of suspension. Said another way, you'd get more power. Again, if it doesnt have them, get a motor that does rather than doing yours. The older mercs had a different head bolt pattern so you can't go to a 1 pc cyl head, and some had vertical reeds, not horizontal. Just aint worth the time and money on the early merc v-6's. :cool:
