Can't let the Merc guys have it all there own way. Attached photos are of a 79, 235 powerhead converted to run on its side in an inboard hydroplane. Photo's taken around 86, officially timmed at 112.35 MPH in pretty much stock trim. Since then has had the full " 9 pages " of treatment, has won 7 national titles and 4 reagonal titles plus lots of feature races. Dusting it off again this season to have a crack at a new crop of young high flyers. Just thought some of you OMC nuts and even some Merc guys hight be interested.

On the side is better!!!!:D

WHERE HAS MY ATTACHED PHOTO GONE? Scanned several photo's, saved as one JPEG file, attached file (I thought) GONE!!!! PLEASE HELP A COMPUTER DUMMY :(

Thats one of things I love about this board!!
About the time we think we have seen, heard, learned, tried everything here comes a guy like Robbie!!
Kind of like the pictures from US1 of some of the motor projects he has done?? A 2.5 powered sand rail?? A 2.5 powered PWC??
Makes the hair on my arms stand up just thinking about it!!!
Robbie, glad to hear you puttin her back together!!
Hopefully you can get some benificial tips/suggestions from some of the OMC and other gurus off of the board to make sure you kick some ass over there!!
You gotta love the guys willing to try something a little different!!

Hows it going...Would like to see the pictures...LOL
There's no way you can scan a bunch of pictures and save it as one JPEG, or JPG file..UNLESS you use an art program to merge the Pictures, into ONE picture..You can put them ALL into an ZIP File, then they will be one file But then you'll have to download it and UnZip it....Why not post the pictures one at a time..??

Later Larry :D

Heck, at least you got'em up! Everytime I try it. it tells me the file is too big. :o

Is it belt drive or straight. Looks like it took a lot of work to get that together. Awesome. Got any pics running at speed?

Got one like yours, but it is standing on end!

What kinda rpms you turning? Is that a stock flywheel?

Yeh managed to get them posted BUT its so small (where have I heard that before ???) FCnLa how did you get your photo posted and its so BIGGG? Very cool motor by the way. I scanned at 75dpi and 50% to get the size down below 100KB to enable me to post, but they come out oh so small!!!!! Anyway, yes I do have some shots at speed but I'll have to sort this size thing first. I run around 7-7.5K but it will run to 8K if I have too, always worried about those big heavy pistons zipping up and down at big revs. The flywheel is a lightened stock unit, you can get a lot of weight off the wheel provided it is a good casting. Some are pretty average castings and when you machine them they reveal lots of holes and porousity. Had it dynamically balanced after. Hope you can help with with this size thing so I can post an action shot.
Do those velocity stacks make a big difference? What heads are you running?

Cheers :D

Forgot to say, it is direct drive to the propeller shaft, push the button and GO

The photo just turned out that way. Shot with a cheaper digital camera. My new cameral (better one) will not do it. Even when I lower the image qualtity. Says file is too big.....???

And thanks. It took a while to get it looking that good. Still not done.

Damn 8 K? I scared to run mine that high, like it would..LOL Touched 7 K. Enough for me.

The main reason for the stacks is the ease of getting to the carbs, jetting and stuff. They are suppose to help. Helps keep the pulses in the stacks and carbs. The heads are stock ' 80 2.6 L 235 heads. Surfaced just enough to keep 'em straight.

Sorry I did not post back to you. Kinda got lost. :D
