The main question I have is as far as cutting the swival bracket. Does anyone have any pics on what they have done? Possibly any advice on what to or not to do. I have the necessary equipment to do it but Im trying to get some more ideas before I start. Thanks Steve

I did one on a brand new engine in 1976 and would venture to say it was probably the first one ever done anywhere. I built a jig to hold the top and bottom parallel while it was welded. It's EXTREMELY critical that these two surfaces be exactly parallel and back in the same position front to rear and side to side as original. As far as shortening the swivel bracket assy, the one we did back then was the old style stuff and was completely different from today's stuff, so I ain't much help on that part.

Thanks Raceman, do you by any chance have any pictures you can post. Im just trying to get some ideas on where to cut on that bracket. I figured on building a jig for accuracy. Did you euse the top of the mid or make a new one. I plan on using a piece of 3/4 6061 or T6 for mine. Steve

I actually cut my housing a lot different than anybody does em now. I cut it right above the bottom of the bigger part of the exhaust cavity, then up the back and across the top of the lower motor mounts. It made it look factory as opposed to seeing the hump in the middle the way most people overlap em now. I don't have pictures of any of that old stuff now, although I do still have the jig somewhere. It's probably a lot less trouble to get somebody who's set up to do em to just do it for you if you're only interested in doing one.
