How about a change of pace? Instead of a winding river, let's do a wide open Gulf with crystal clear water.

Don't think we'll be down there yet.
We are planning another re-con mission for the very near future but don't know if it will be that soon.
The water LaserModVee is describing is incredible!!
We had the Vector out in it and into the Gulf twice when we were down last Novemebr.
100+ be prepared to see "Utopia". The scenary from the water is second to none.
The beach on the Gulf side of Cayo Costa Island is as nice as any you will see anywhere!(and only accesible by boat!)
You will see part of why we are moving our asses down there!!

Unfortunately I'm heading back to Ft. Lauderdale on the 18th and then back to winter in NJ on the 19th.

We launch at Pineland Marine normally. It's like $15 to launch, but it puts you on the west coast of Pine Island and makes for an easy run to Cayo Costa. My Laser only holds 14 gallons of fuel, so launching anywhere else would cut me too close. They also have a golf cart shuttle service to get you to your truck&trailer.

My in-laws are coming down from Ohio that weekend, and you can bet on us boating the entire time. They are hi-po boaters as well, so they expect it!

Sorry I couldn't come for the weekend. I arrive in Ft. Lauderdale on the 14th. I was trying to get a weekend but my work schedule and flight availability conflicted.

Mike, Caloosahatchee. (sp?) Is actually part of the i.c. (the bottom corner of that river and the Gulf is Fort Myers on the right/east side)
Run north about 15 miles up to Alva where we all got together in November.
One post on here and pulled probably 25/30 boats from local/surrounding areas!!
Oh yeah, high caliber **** too. A 28' Skater (was there but not with our group) and probably 10 boats that would run a buck twenty ++
We were down a year ago and bought a 13' Whaler to play with while down. (sold it when we got home)
We ran every piece of water on that map! There are miles and miles of rivers and canals and coves and islands everywhere!
Be next to impossible to get bore or see the same thing twice unless you tried!!
Be carefull, it will change you!

I did not reallize that your outing to Cayo Costa was on a Weds.
My wife and I both work, but we will do our best to be there. Sounds like a great time except for the salt water.
