Lake Shasta California

Considering doing the big family vacation at Shasta this year. Have never stayed or boated there before and am looking for any tips. Not particularly looking to do the hoseboat thing, more of a cabin or motel with good boat launch or moorage.

Anybody out there with any first hand experence of the do's and don'ts, any help appreciated, thanks in advance Scott :D

I have been there a number of times and I think the houseboat thing is the way to go!! With 375 miles of shoreline there is always a place to run the boat into the shore for the night and not see any other person. If you want some more info on houseboats or cabins I strongly recommend Antlers Resort.

You really should call Phil's Props in Redding. The people there will be able to answer any of your questions, fishing, props, tackle also.The main people are Tony, Stewart and of course Phil, these are all good people. Phil is a very good friend of ours, also King of Lake Shasta, boat wise.
If your lucky you might be able to wave to him as he go's by in his 21' Eliminator, you might have to race his friends first though.
I belive Whiskytown Lake is a hot boat lake also, just outside of Redding.

for all of the info, the house boats look cool, but the price for a week scared me a little (from $3000-$6000/week) :eek:
