Well, as you can see, the new boating season has begun and there are new boaters lurking at every boatramp in the country. Keep your cameras ready because it looks like they have started earlier than ever this year. It should be a great year. Enjoy.

This is the first pic on our approach back to the ramp. We knew that something looked a little different. We had no idea that new boaters had been released into the wild so early in the season.

Yet a closer look, revealed that new boater syndrome had taken someone by surprise.

Shouldn't there be some sort of trailer backing license??

Sometimes the truth hurts.

Last year here in Miami ...... same gene pool.

Best part was the the boat was taking on water as well (why the bilge pump was running non-stop), and the tow truck also nearly pulled itself into the water pulling out the SUV.

The guy in the water is having a very humbling experience. Looks like a long day.

pull the boat just out of the water and load everything (including the kitchen sink) into the truck, change clothes, yell at the kids, and strap the boat down before getting out of the way.:D

...a friend gave me the following advice, which I never forgot;

When you are feeling down, when you are feeling like life is not going your way, when you wish you were born smarter or wealthier....just go to the boat launch on a Sunday afternoon, find a comfortable place to sit on the grass, and just watch. You will leave feeling refreshed, feeling smart and feeling quite good about yourself. Free therapy, by the water. Can't beat it.

I know that I have supplied some therapy for a few folks back in 99'. North main launch, forgot to put my three plugs in, launched, parked truck, came down to a boat w/ a **** load of water in it. Then had to go back to the top of the hill.................well, you get the idea. Me dumb.

Thats how the big boys do it, except they have rollers or something when they slide the ship in sideways.

I can't imagine getting a boat sideways on a ramp, and yes, I too have forgotten the plugs once!

Perhaps the poor sap figured since he was so close to the water he would just turn the boat around, noser into the water and THEN allow momma and the kiddies to board from the swim platform right there at the ramp?

DONT be so hard on folks... lmmfao!

Gail and I were sitting on Sandy Beach at Lake Murray a couple of years ago, and were talking about the funny things we had seen over the years. About that time some guy ran a big bow rider up on the pile of rocks that is right out front of the beach, and stuck it there. He was apparently talking to his passengers instead of watching where he was going.

At that moment, I told Gail that we should start a business where we could teach people to back a trailer, launch a boat, watch what hell they were doing, and so forth. We thought a good name for the business would be "De Dork, Inc.". What do you think?

All those people around the boat tried to push it off the rocks. None of the passengers got out of the boat (De Dork) for the process.
