It sounds like there are some Yamaha clone propellers in circulation. Are these illegal clones? Do they perform as well? Are they a good value?

There are some copies available. For heads up drag racing they have never been quite as quick as the old originals.Other wise they have been a less expensive way to go for lake racing and breacket boats. Performance Propellor in Soddy Daisy, Tn, carries a line of them.

Does a real Yammi drag prop fit the Merc propshaft splines without being altered????

If you use the right thrust washer Yamaha and Mercury props will interchange with no problem. You have to be careful with using some of the Yamaha Thrust washers on a Mercury since the line protector can get into a seal. We normally cut them off to use on a Mercury. The splines are the same.
