View Full Version : Which rods?
Modified 92 260, drag cut, slots done etc. My present motor has 5250's and it doesn't seem to turn up past 75-7800. Will smaller rods be a good bet on the mod motor? TIA

I went through the same thing for a few days trying to decide to swap the big rods in my 260 for the light ones . I decided to stay with the big ones. 7500-7800 rpm with what hull / prop ?
I have an Allison bassboat , stock 93 260 and it had no trouble turning a 24 yamaha 9200 rpm in 900' . TB

The 50 series rods are awfully heavy (490 grams) verses 350 for the 41 series Hi Performance rod. But the lighter rod will show a BIG improvement in acceleration but not a hugh amount on extreme top rpm ( no more than 500 or so )
Light is might !
TB21: I have a 94 XB02 BR . I turn a 26 big ear chopper between 76 and 78. I am not happy with this. This is not the motor that I have posted. It is mostly stock.
Jay, I'll take that 500 rpm's any day. I'm putting this new motor together and need to know which rods to put in it. I have none for it at the moment. Also I need the large center main bearings and caps for a 1 1/2 2.4 crank. I believe this is what it takes to use a 2.4 crank am I correct? Thanks

The 41 series 2.5 fishing motor rods are fine and you can machine the caps to accept the SPS stronger rod bolts ! And they are a fraction of the cost of the Hi Per 41 series rod !
