would the performance be the same between a Bobs coned CLE and a Bobs coned standard gearcase?
Also anyone know how they cone a CLE? Is the nose removed?

Thanks

I have no idea if they cut the nose before they put the cone on or not but the CLE is gonna be a lot stronger than your regular housing w/ cone. I've seen 3 regular cases bust at the carrier running a 200 merc 2.4 with choppers on Hydrostreams. After switching to the CLE, no problems. Performance wise I could not tell a difference w/ both having cones.

JustMercMe,
Thanks for the info. I actually have a CLE running on my Vector. Have been thinking of getting it coned in the search for more speed.

the cle is better than a stock l/u with a cone. on a tunnel v the cle with a bobs works better. it makes the boat handle better due to the added lenght.

Yes. What extremed said. A CLE with a bobs cone added runs really well. A buddy had one before he got a SM L/U. The coned CLE was a tad faster than his Bob's coned "alpha" unit. Handling was similar, but a coned alpha handles pretty well anyway. I never much cared for the stock CLE except for the internal strength. I say cone it.

If your not, then don't waste the money. The whole idea behind lengthening the gear case is to prevent blowout. The faster you go, the further back the air bubble is pushed on the gear case. Just make sure that your case is worked properly so handling and safety is priority one. Good Luck, Jay.
