Does anyone have any before and after pics of a "removing the splashwell" mod that they've done to their Vegas ( or any other stream). Any instructions on how to go it? Thanks

That V-king YT used to belong to Q-shot, and I believe he custom ordered it the way it is.

...the complete motor well is still there, just covered. Why cut out any strength in the boat? The back seat was move up about 8" to make room for rigging.

The splashwell was covered with 1/4" plywood then glassed and gelcoated. I wanted it strong so I could stand on it.

Those are some of the nicest boat shots i've ever seen. Looks like it was professionally done.

That is a sweet lookin rig.

If the splashwell were cut out the transom can be made stronger without it rather than with it.
The knees can now be full height.
The decking would be the top stiffener without the added weight of the unused well. Increased interior space to boot.

This is an especially if replacing the transom.

The only real difficulty is molding the new decking so it looks like it belongs.

Cut the well out. Feather the edges for a good bond.
Either an inny or an outy.
An inney. Place a finished piece of wood over the hole so it conforms properly1/8" white board works well. The inside or bottom has a finish on it. This is coated with mold release and gel is painted on. Then laminated from beneath, which is harder to do than above. When done remove the former and the shell is finished.
An outy puts the board inside and the gell is added last.

Install larger knees with any fuel tank placement in mind.
Do first since there is a nice big hole to work through.

The shell could be done out of the boat and then laminated in with a few preparations.

But then I wanted some big yohimbee knees and a little flair. It isn't finished to date but we're getting there. The shape was all put in with laminated 1/4" PVC foam core.
